A lot of “hybrid” training is really endurance training with some weights added in.

And I think it’s got the balance wrong.

Here’s my thoughts >>>

There’s nothing wrong with running, intervals or conditioning. I do plenty of all three.

My issue is when lifting becomes the afterthought, especially when the same person also wants to build a serious physique.

This is what I and so many I speak to actually mean when we say we want to be hybrid.

Strong. Muscular. Fast. Fit.

Not exceptional at one thing at the expense of everything else.

I came into hybrid training from the opposite direction.

10+ years of bodybuilding taught me that muscle takes deliberate work to build. So when I started running, I wasn’t willing to throw that away.

I had to learn how to make both coexist.

We obsess over running metrics.

5K times. Threshold pace. Weekly mileage. Zone 2.

But ask someone trying to build muscle how their lifting volume has progressed over the last 12 weeks and the conversation often gets a lot quieter.

That’s the disconnect for me.

I’m not claiming this approach makes you the best runner or the biggest bodybuilder.

That isn’t the goal.

I want to be genuinely good at both, and I think there are a lot of people chasing exactly the same thing.

This is essentially the reason @asoratraining exists.

Not another programme designed around how much work I can cram into seven days.

A structure where lifting, running and conditioning each have a purpose and progress together, with a solid underpinning of muscle building.

I’m curious where people sit on this because I know not everyone will agree:

Has hybrid training become too cardio-heavy?

And if the approach I’ve described sounds more like how you want to train, comment PURPOSE and I’ll send you the details. taken in London, United Kingdom by @asoratraining

Here’s a little BTS of what I’ve been up to building @asoratraining

Comment READY and I’ll send you the link to be first to know.

Building a project like this has you wearing multiple hats. Some days I’m chief of marketing and another day I’m reading t&c’s or trying to get a website to work. But that’s what it’s all about right?

The 3 pillar programs on ASORA’s release will be:

LIFT
HYBRID
HYROX

All with different goals with an underpinning philosophy. Built to build muscle and the engine.

The waitlist is open. See you there. ✅ taken in London, United Kingdom by @asoratraining

Most hybrid athletes I speak to are stuck in the middle.

In a halfway house. It’s almost never a programming problem, normally It’s a sequencing one.

Every block is a bit of everything, so nothing ever peaks.

Here’s what I do instead: pick the race, then work backwards from it.

Because you can absolutely build muscle or lose fat and run faster in the same block. I’m proof of that. What you can’t do is peak all of it at once. Progress happens together. Peaking happens in order.

So my year splits into four:

1. Build
2. Engine
3. Specific
4. Reset

Four phases. One priority at a time. Nothing abandoned.

And the reason this works whatever month you’re reading it: it isn’t built on January. It’s built on however many weeks sit between you and your next start line.

Swipe through for what each phase looks like week to week and the one thing to avoid in each.

When’s your next race?

I was never naturally blessed with big arms. But I found what worked for me and stuck with it.

Heavy barbell curls are still to this day my favourite. They’re a small muscle so they heal quickly and can handle increased frequency.

Swipe across to see my favourites.

Comment the muscle you want to see next 💪🏽

Introducing ASORA.

I’ve been working on this for a while now and by far my most DM’d request. I’m so excited to finally share ASORA with you.

14 years of experience, poured into a system. I spent years lifting and building muscle. When I moved into the hybrid space, I noticed the same problem everywhere, the programmes never respected the muscle. They were cardio plans with a few lifts sprinkled in.

ASORA is the system I wish I’d had when I stepped into hybrid. Proper muscle, real engine, genuine performance. No half measures.

Those of you who’ve followed along have watched me break sub-60 Hyrox and a 20min 5k, all while staying jacked and lean. That’s the whole point.

This is for the ones who doubt it’s possible.

Comment READY and I’ll send the waitlist link straight to you.
