What a fucking time to be going through menopause. Approximately 20 million Gen X women are currently entering or deep in the thick of it.

We are the generation of cycle breakers and blueprint holders. We’ve set boundaries. And now? We are the ones who said, “Oh hell no, we won’t raw dog menopause in the upside down.”

Good news today: I got approved for HRT. Fuck yeah. Bad news: We are living in a dystopian nightmare where rights are being stripped while we’re trying to figure out why we’re sweating through three shirts.

Today I watched the sun rise and set, and the news cycle spun back and forth on the SAVE Act. Sometimes it feels like only divine intervention can save us. But then I remember: We are the divine feminine. Each of us has within our own control the ability to affect history.

This rage isn’t a symptom. It’s a signal. It’s the sound of the old system cracking. It’s the sound of us waking up.

Gen Z and Gen Alpha are the ones who will inherit the consequences. We are the ones writing the blueprint now.

Let’s usher in the matriarchy. Not the kind where women just sit in the same chairs as the men, but the kind built on care, community, and the good of all.

The sacred rage is not a phase. It is a compass. And it is pointing us home.

Nothing about this moment is normal.
Not the grief. Not the fear. And personally, it’s felt like moving through the motions.

If you’re feeling that too, you’re not broken.
You’re surviving something none of us were built to carry alone.
We’re all learning how to move within the limits of what we can do, while coping with the constant onslaught of atrocities.

This post isn’t a fix. It’s a daily practice.
To name the truth of where we are.
To remember that ecosystems thrive through interconnection, not isolation.
To remind you: your capacity will shift, and that’s okay. Give yourself grace.
This is what being embodied entails. We are present.

Start where you are.
Return to what’s in reach.
What you can hold. What you can give. What you can release.

Even the smallest acts matter.
Especially now.

I caught sight of my shadow while I was skating today, and it made me think about the parts of ourselves we don’t always see.

We tend to talk about shadow work in terms of the things we need to work on. The patterns we haven’t recognized yet. The things we’d rather not look at.

And yes, sometimes that’s what’s there.

But I’ve been wondering about what else might be waiting outside our immediate awareness.

What have you stopped noticing about yourself?

What do you miss about yourself?

What desire keeps showing up that you haven’t really let yourself acknowledge?

What have you tucked away because there wasn’t room for it then, but maybe there’s room for it now?

We’re moving into the darker half of the year, and for me there’s something about this season that invites that kind of inward attention. Not because darkness is bad. Not because the shadow needs to be cleared.

Because maybe there’s something there worth seeing.

Today I was skating in full fucking sunshine with my shadow moving right beside me.

And I couldn’t stop thinking:

Maybe shadow work isn’t only about confronting what we’ve hidden.

Maybe sometimes it’s about remembering what we’ve forgotten.

🖤

This dress has been taking its sweet fucking time getting here, and somehow it arrived on exactly the right day.

I’ve been thinking a lot about women and anger today. About all the ways we’re taught to contain it, soften it, explain it, make it more comfortable for everyone else.

And sometimes I don’t want to make mine palatable.

Sometimes I want to move it. Write it. Make something with it. Wear fucking wolves.

Not everything we feel needs to become a lesson or an inspirational story. Sometimes expression gets to be expression.

Anyway. The wolves have arrived. 🐺🖤

We learn the molds early.

Be desirable, but not too sexual. Independent, but not intimidating. Nurturing, but don’t need too much yourself. Be confident, but not full of yourself. Be agreeable, but somehow also have boundaries.

Madonna. Whore. Good girl. Difficult woman. Too much. Not enough.

Spend enough years trying to locate yourself somewhere inside all those contradictions and of course it can become difficult to know what you actually think. What you want. What you trust. What you believe about yourself when nobody else gets to define you.

And then we call it a self-worth problem.

This is so much of the work I feel called to do with women. Not teaching you another fucking mold to fit into. Not giving you a better set of rules for how to be a woman.

Helping you get curious about what’s underneath all that conditioning, so you can know yourself well enough to trust yourself.

Because maybe the question isn’t “How do I become enough?”

Maybe it’s “Who taught me I wasn’t?”

I want to talk much more about this. I’m opening up some LIVE conversations over the next few weeks so we can actually get into it together.

Let’s compare notes. 🖤 by @aspasiarising

Apparently I’m still finding all the places where the rules about being a “good woman” learned how to hide.

Anger. Emotion. Need. Desire. Taking up space. Being difficult. Being too much. All the ways we learned to keep ourselves inside the lines.

I want to talk about this. Not just here in the comments, but actually together.

So tomorrow evening I’m going LIVE (on TIkTok), and over the next few weeks I want to keep opening up conversations about conditioning, anger, our bodies, survival, self-worth, the shit we were taught to tolerate, and what happens when we start questioning it.

I’m building the kind of community I’ve been looking for myself, and I would fucking love for you to be part of it.

I’ll post the time in my Stories tomorrow. If you want me to DM you when I’m going live, leave a 🖤 below.

Let’s congregate. Let’s compare notes.

You know. The dangerous stuff. 🖤 by @aspasiarising

Meditation is one of the simplest ways I know to practice being present.

Not transcending.
Not becoming enlightened.
Not trying to make your mind perfectly quiet.

Just being here.

For a few minutes, you stop giving your attention to everything happening around you and turn some of it inward.

You notice your breath.
You listen.
You pay attention to what’s happening inside you.

And yes, thoughts are going to show up. That’s okay. You notice them and come back to the moment.

I love that meditation asks so little of us and somehow gives us an opportunity to notice so much.

In a world constantly competing for our attention, there’s something beautifully rebellious about sitting still and listening.

Even for five minutes. 🖤

One of the strangest things about getting older is realizing how many versions of my body I could have loved more while I was actually living in them.

We spend so much time looking at our bodies from the outside.

How they look. How they move. What jiggles. What doesn’t move like it used to. Whether somebody is watching. Whether we look ridiculous.

Meanwhile, there’s this whole other experience available to us:

Actually enjoying being in one.

Dancing is one of the ways I do that.

Music on. Body moving. Joy showing up wherever the fuck it wants to.

But this is the youngest you’re ever going to be again.

This body, at this age, on this particular fucking day, is temporary.

So maybe, instead of spending all of our time looking at our bodies, we could spend a little more time actually living in them.

Today’s somatic practice:
Enjoy being in yours.

🖤

If this resonates, please, share / copy link & help my work grow. 🖤🐦‍⬛

I think we’ve made regulation way too synonymous with calming the fuck down.

Sometimes that’s exactly what I need.

And sometimes I’ve been still too long. I’ve been in my head, staring at a screen, thinking about shit, and I want to wake my body the fuck up.

Today I chose Sacred Rage + Tree Shaking to move from stillness toward play.

Sacred Rage is a big inhale up, followed by a powerful movement down with a heavy exhale. I love the way it brings breath, sound, movement and intensity together. It’s also one I reach for when I’m angry, frustrated, or carrying that pent-up charge that feels like it needs somewhere to fucking go.

Tree Shaking is different. I especially like it when I’ve been feeling flat, checked out or disconnected and want more sensation, movement and energy in my body.

Because regulation isn’t always about bringing the energy down.

Sometimes we need to settle. Sometimes we need to mobilize, energize, reconnect, or give what’s already moving through us somewhere to fucking go.

Today I wanted to move from stillness toward play.

Three minutes of Sacred Rage.
Three minutes of Tree Shaking.

And somewhere along the way, I could feel the energy change.

That’s the fucking magic of having more than one way to work with your body.

🖤

Obligatory grown-up note: I’m an Embodied midlife Doula, not a doctor or therapist. If you need one, please see one. I like to mind my fucking lane.

What if struggling with self-love isn’t just about confidence?

A lot of us learned very early how to consider everyone else while quietly leaving ourselves out of the equation.

Learning to love yourself can mean questioning some of that conditioning. Getting curious about what’s actually yours. Learning to know yourself, trust yourself, speak to yourself with some fucking kindness, and include yourself in the care you so readily give everyone else.

Because this isn’t where self-love ends.

We go inward so we can go outward.

The way we love ourselves changes the way we show up for other people, our communities, and the world we’re helping create.

And that shit ripples outward.
