No docks. No harbors. No limits. 🌊💨

When the @marines need to deliver combat power to austere shores, they call on the “Swift Intruders” of Assault Craft Unit 5.

Conventional landing craft can only access 15% of the world’s beaches. The Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) can reach 70%.

Deploying with Pacific Fleet Amphibious Readiness Groups, ACU-5 keeps our joint forces fast, mobile, and lethal across the Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Arabian Gulf.

👤 Name & Rank? GSM1 Matthew Allen
🏠 Hometown: Henderson, Texas
📋 Position: LCAC Deck Engineer Instructor
⚓ How long have you been in the Navy? 13 years
💥 Favorite part about being a SWIFT Intruder? Being a part of a small, tight-knit, command that offers the opportunity to stay in the command and allows Sailors the chance to go up in positions as crew-members.
🎯 What’s something people might not know about you? I played tennis in high school
🔥 What’s your favorite memory at the command? During the middle 2016-2017 MKI ARG deployment, all 5 LCACs were parked on the beach in Djbouti, Africa after a long day of offloading the MEU. We all built fires in front of our LCACs and just hung out talking about our deployment.
🗣️ Advice for the next generation of SWIFT Intruders? To remember we are part of a team greater than our craft or shop. Take care of one another and help others in need to keep these boats maintained.

Stay tuned as we introduce the people who make the mission happen!

We’re putting our SWIFT Intruders in the hot seat with a few rapid-fire questions to get to know the Sailors behind the uniform.

👤 Name & Rank? MM2 Brockton Knapp.
🏠 Hometown: Seattle, Washington
⚓ How long have you been in the Navy? 15 years
📋 Position: LCAC Engineer
💥 Favorite part about being a SWIFT Intruder? Not everyone in the Navy can say that they work on Hovercrafts and on top of that to work so closely with our Marines.
🎯 What’s something people might not know about you? I am a HUGE Seahawks Fan
🔥 What’s your favorite memory at the command? My favorite memory of the command is my 2024 deployment. We got to work with our Marine counterparts on Multi-National exercises across the South China Sea.
🗣️ Advice for the next generation of SWIFT Intruders? My advice to future Swift Intruders is to love what you do here. Every role here is paramount to the success of LCAC operations.

Stay tuned as we introduce the people who make the mission happen!

FOR THE INFORMATION OF ALL HANDS: ENLISTED SAILORS OF ALL RATINGS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR ALL LANDING CRAFT AIR CUSHION CREW POSITIONS!!

Effective immediately, Sailors from any rating may apply for all LCAC crew positions, provided they meet other eligibility requirements (i.e. ASVAB, paygrade, medical, etc). Be part of a key community in the Blue-Green Team!

Please note: while this letter is directly addressed to ACU-4, this policy also applies to Sailors who wish to come to ACU-5 in Camp Pendleton, CA.
