It took me 2 rounds of flights, many days of wait with with my tripod and camera, but most importantly a lot of grit and determination to get this beautiful sighting of the now famous Black Panther cubs of Manas 🤩😍

When I left Manas on 21st May without any sighting, I had told my resort staff to inform me that if sighting happens please inform me and I will immediately fly out. 3 days later the first sighting happened and the 4th day I again left for Guwahati with few friends and with lot of hope.

To fly out again thousands of kms away from home in a span of 3 days on a glimmer of hope is the craziest thing I have ever done! And there was a risk of a huge disappointment afterwards.

But as the saying goes - No risk, no reward 💫✨🌟💕

A trip with a lot of uncertainties, difficulties but also a lot of learning that I know will mould me into a better artist.

A flicker of gold amidst an endless green 🐅🧡💚

For the last 2 years I had heard stories of many friends who had been to Sunderbans, once or even few times and almost all had been unsuccessful in having a tiger sighting, especially on their first trip. Only 2 people I knew had got excellent shots and they had been to the place quite a number of times.

So for my maiden trip to Sunderbans, (or even Bengal infact) I wasn’t expecting much. But as the boat safari continued from Day 1 to Day 2, I was thinking that it would be exciting to see a tiger here as the landscape is so different, dramatic and so harsh for any big cat.

There are huge saltwater crocodiles, then the huge thorn like plants on most of the river banks, the ebb and flow of the water during the tides, the lack of freshwater as the habitat is mostly of saltwater and ofcourse the lack of dry plain land where we are used to seeing most tigers.

It’s an environment and a habitat where it’s impossible for a civilisation to exist, but the tigers have adapted and it’s nothing short of a miracle 💫

Into the land where the forest breathes with the tides. 🌿🌊

My first journey into the Sundarbans—a place where every ripple, every mangrove root, and every silence carries the possibility of a story. Here, nature doesn’t reveal itself easily. It asks for patience, respect, and the willingness to simply observe.

Some places leave footprints on your shoes. The Sundarbans leaves them on your soul.

Ranthambore has given me many firsts …

My first tiger sighting after many safaris at Sariska and Corbett back in late 2000’s 🐅

My first award in photography was also for a picture shot in Ranthambore and that too of a Tiger from Machli’s lineage.

And now my first quintet in Tigers 🐅🐅🐅🐅🐅

It was my dream since I started photography to at the very least sight and try to capture 5 tigers in one frame. And this too happened at Ranthambore, a park that has given me so many beautiful sightings as well as memories.

Gharial hatchlings from Chambal.

Since last year I had been trying to shoot the gharials and their hatchlings, but due to the early rains then I had to cancel my visit to Palighat. So when I heard that the hatchlings were being seen now, I immediately drove from Ranthambore to Palighat and did my boat safari.

To be honest reptiles scare me! Even snakes and lizards.
So to try and put my camera above the water and shooting while holding the tripod ring was a bit scary experience for me as the mother was somewhere nearby too. But the apprehension went away when I got this beautiful sighting of the hatchlings and I saw hundreds of them ! And the river is also very clean and beautiful, so overall I had an amazing experience photographing a new species.
