The hand quilting is finished on my #orlaquilt

But now I’m considering adding more and I don’t know if this is a case of more is more or me not knowing when to stop 🤪 My idea for more is more crosshatch stitching, basically in between what I’ve already done.

And as I was outlining the last flower just now, I was also thinking I could REMOVE the machine quilting I did surrounding the blocks. Is that crazy?

And rounding out our bee for the year is @cooperstreetquilts Redford bear paw block for November 😍 Apparently last year, before I was a member, they made matching quilts using this pattern and color scheme (what a sweet idea) and Martha wanted her quilt bigger so I got to make one for her this year!

@thegatheringquilt chose the quarter log cabin block in electric, bright Halloween colors for her month, October! This is a fun idea. I love bright colors. And her quilt is going to be the best Halloween rainbow if there even is such a thing.

@jennysimsmakesthings is the queen for September and she chose the wonky star block! I love this block, it’s so fun to capture fussy cuts, but doesn’t require a lot of precise, tedious cutting and sewing. I made her blocks quite a long time ago, but haven’t mailed them yet 😬 Soon!!

I can’t believe another year has passed and it’s #getyourquiltywishesgranted season 🥰💕

My asks this year are probably more hard to come by and so I’m not expecting a lot, if anything.

I would like some cute Japanese fabric! I really like the mouse print I have pictured that appears to be Lecien. I love floral prints that read a bit vintage. In particular, the pictured Yuwa print is a favorite and I’m almost out. I’d also take some fussy cuts of Margaret and Sophie, Atsuko Matsuyama or some other fun designers I have yet to discover. I’m really looking for cute illustrations like I have pictured or floral.

I’m also on the look out for more vintage textiles - cut offs from vintage quilts, vintage quilt blocks, pretty embroidered bits (hand embroidered), lace, fun handkerchiefs. I realize I need to patiently thrift, but thought I’d ask just in case someone has collected some pretties and no longer wants them.

Impromptu green garden. Happy to say I didn’t use a pattern and was able to figure out the math to make all of these basic shapes 😂 I’ve got several hearts and hexie flowers to appliqué into various spots and I’m also thinking about adding some more butterflies and maybe a little bit of lace.

I’ve got lots of motivation to use my fabric stash lately and am looking forward to piecing a scrap backing one of these days to finish this off sooner rather than later! Oh and unrelated, I’m actually almost finished hand quilting my Orla!! And then maybe I will be able to start another project :)

My @tashanoel1 pattern test quilt is complete! It’s got the most squishy and crinkly texture, which I really love! This, along with the high contrast, though is proving difficult to photograph indoors. It’s too wet to bring outside so propped on a chair and swirled on the floor will do for now. I also love a good #quiltswirl It’s such an adorable pattern that comes together quickly, especially if you do all the cutting before you begin!

The start to my #felixandthefussycuts bee quilt 😍 @rosie.taylor.crafts #drunkardspath quilt blocks in all shades of pink and low volume. My big decision at the moment is do I make all of the blocks like this or do I mix in 4 inch fussy cut squares in pinks and low volumes to create more space between the circles? I’m leaning towards that direction for now. Either way it’ll be so pretty!!

I had *the* worst time with my spray baste! I’m sure part of the issue is that I blast really quickly through that step (and quilting if I’m being honest). But goodness, I ran into an issue with the quilt top not basted down well in the middle so a couple places got a little distorted in my attempts to keep going without having major folds. The back looks great though 🙄 I also always quilt middle to the outside with lines several inches apart and then flip and go outside to middle with the closer lines. I’m seeing now how this is not ideal (though has worked just fine for me with several other quilts) and made my pucker situation worse. I will have to do things differently next time. Nevertheless, it’s really cute and I’m nitpicking. I LOVE that I picked red for the binding 😍 I just need to hand stitch that down and it’ll be finished! This was a pattern test for Tasha Noel 🥰

I finally finished this pretty block for my gosling quilt! I picked the fabrics based on that sweet embroidered brush and comb with the flowers. It was a vintage find, a simple wrap pouch for a brush and comb 🥰 repurposed.

I was so fortunate to test @tashanoel1 newest pattern Mushroom Patch Quilt! She generously sent me a beautiful stack of #whimsicalwoodland and I made that the main focus. But truly, all of her fabric is sweet and coordinates perfectly so I mixed in everything I could find. I think the mushrooms are just perfect with her adorable illustrations.

The quilt top is surprisingly quick to assemble and I would recommend this straightforward pattern. You can easily customize the size too. The pattern calls for a border, but I like this compact look and it’s a great throw size so I’m leaving it as is.

This is the first time I’ve made a quilt that doesn’t have a scrappy background (although, if you look closely, I did add some scrappiness) and so I was able to cut and sub cut strips. I did ALL of my cutting before stitching, another first for me. Things went together assembly line style with lots of chain piecing and I now understand how people can create a quilt top so quickly and why all of my other projects take so much longer 🤪.

My boys helped with the pictures and of course my younger, more rambunctious, child needed to help too. I was mostly letting him be silly, but we still managed to get some good pictures that way too 🥰

I love scrappy backings! I’m feeling determined to finish my #tashanoelquilt sooner rather than later and probably won’t do any appliqué after all because I want to make another all over project bag with the hexies I’ve been basting. I’ve also got a couple bee blocks to make and a Christmas swap gift to make. Plus my other unfinished projects and the two new quilt ideas I have in my head. Oh and my bee quilt 🤪

I went through my stash and grabbed pieces in roughly the colors I used for the top and didn’t think too hard about ‘what if I use it all and won’t have anymore’. I’m ready to thin down my stash, for today at least. It’s fun to save favorite bits, but there are always so many cute things being printed! I’m going to #frankenbatting to get my crib size batting (from my stash, why do I have that!?) big enough, which also feels like a good use of my resources as well 😍
