POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Stoked on this one. Thank you @louisbakermusic and @astonroad for bringing me in on this. I have been fortunate to work with some of Aotearoa’s absolute musical legends in my mahi, and this is right up there. I wanted an edgy soul graphic with hints of Saul Bass to go with the cinema soundtrack vibe. Using the colour of the tee as a colour in the graphic. Beautiful job from @artisanscreenprints image based on the great photo by @i_am_ashley_alexander Big ups on this rekkid Louis. It’s killer right through. Bo!! by @astonroad

The night before the release of Trouble, friends, whānau and music community came together to listen to the record from front to back. Thank you to everyone who came, it was a super special moment to pause and reflect on the record and it felt pretty vulnerable too to be sharing it too. Massive thank you to everyone involved - it takes a village! I appreciate you - @martynpepperell on the Q’s, @rhombusmusicnz on the decks, @tubsaudio, @vogelmorn, @jewelschool88.6, @traceynzbrown Alicia, @astonroad. My second full-length album TROUBLE is out now.

Feeling blessed to be able to share this with you today. The record is a snap shot at the last 2years of writing and creating. There have been many highs and lows and this is the culmination of this time and space. This is me. Listen to this wherever you are - i hope you enjoy this one and that it gives you something positive.

Ngā mihi ki a koutou. A huge shout to all who worked on this one.

Hit me a comment and let me know what you think. Peace, Louis.

It is with mixed emotions that I share this song with you. Last year, we lost a Mighty Tree. To those in our music community, to the many who were close with him, and especially to his wife and daughter, you know who this song belongs to. A man who told me to run it straight. A man whose music echoed across the globe. A man of great humour, and an uncanny skill to call a spade a spade. This song carries grief, but also is a mihi to the great mana of the man. And in the days that followed his passing, that mana was made visible through the waves of people who paid their respects. People came to honour him, to stand together, to share stories. Music. Tears. Aroha.
So, in sharing this song with you today, I do so with deep respect for a Mighty Tree who blazed his own trail.

NEW ALBUM. NEW TOUR. Excited to share my new album TROUBLE will be out Oct 9, and I’m hitting the road doing a 9-date tour across Aotearoa.

This is my first proper home tour in 5 years. I’ll be kicking off with some solo shows in the south and then working my way up the country, bringing the full energy of the band with me.

Can’t wait to get on the road and share some good vibes with you, and few laughs as well.

My new single TROUBLE is out! 🧡

Feeling so blessed to have this song come to fruition.
Trouble was a song born out of some high highs and lower lows.. had to confront myself and look in the mirror to realise my lifestyle choices were not so good. I took some time to work on myself to form healthier habits through writing this one.

I am proud to have worked with all these legends and would like to take a moment to send a huge mihi to the people that helped bring this art to life, inclusive of both the filming of the music video and the recording itself.
