🌞A blessed Lammas to you all!

Today brings some changes and exciting steppping stones ahead!

Raven’s Veil emerged as a vision during a time of uncertainty, created by a group of individuals seeking more from their art and daydreaming of dedicated art studios. Then a charming little flower shop became available, just off an alleyway in a heritage building. Here, our small shop was born, a space to honour our vibrant community of artists, makers and all the passerby’s, furry friends and crows!

We have learned so much, made countless changes and forged lifelong friendships with those who walked through the door.

Here’s to our next adventure with Raven’s Veil!

As of August 1st you can still find myself within Raven’s Veil, as well as @m.eye.chael, the other half of Cunning Folk. Michael will also be a resident tattoo artist!

We are excited for this journey and filled with anticipation for the opportunities that lie ahead.

We are committed to uplifting and cultivating beautiful community relationships centered around the arts, social justice and so much more. Your support has been invaluable to us since day one and for that we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude. Raven’s Veil wouldn’t be what it is without you!

I thought I would come on here and re-introduce myself. It also so happens to be @m.eye.chael and mines 13th marriage anniversary on the start of this New Moon. Here’s to another year full of new opportunities, memories and ridding what does not serve us anymore.

Welcome to my page for anyone new here and hello friends that have been here a little while.

My name is Kara and I reside on the west coast of Canada. I am an Animist witch, student of herbalism, diviner, creator, practitioner of the Old Ways and currently continuing studies to understand my call to be a death worker/psychopomp.

All the offerings and artworks you’ll find here came to be while walking my own path in search of my ancestral lineage and witchcraft. Along the way this path has helped me see the injustice within our communities. I am actively seeking inclusion in this community and believe we should have access to knowledge while appropriately appreciating other cultures/paths.

I get lots of questions about death work and if you have any don’t hesitate to send me a DM or any questions in general!

Hekate, the ancient Greek goddess associated with magic, witchcraft and the crossroads, is honoured and invoked through the use of this devoted candle!

☽ Telling of the Bees ❨

The bees must be told…

🐝

Of deaths and marriages. Of secrets carried on the wind. Of the turning of seasons and the grief that follows.

Telling of the Bees is an oil crafted in one of the oldest traditions of folk magic, which is, the belief that the hive holds counsel, that bees are messengers between the living and the dead and that to keep secrets from them brings hardship.

Anoint a letter or petition papers before you send it. Wear it when you speak a difficult truth. Carry it when you cross a threshold that cannot be uncrossed.

The bees already know. This oil asks them to listen.

🕯️Some magic is old magic. Our Folklore Candles draw from the stories passed down through generations, the kind that live in the land, in the herbs, in the flame.

Made for those who walk between the veil with both feet on the ground. Each candle is rooted in myth, land and ancestral memory. From the reflective mystery of the Mirror of Hathor to the wild edges of the Cliffs of Moher and what lies in the liminal shadow of Beneath the Blackthorn to the spirit sight of the Psychomanteum. We have 11 stories crafted with folklore.

🕯️These come 3 ways, in antique vessels, 8oz black glass jars and 2.5oz copper tins. All refillable in house! If you live locally you can partake in our refill Loyalty Rite where for every 6 refills your 7th is on us! Choose to refill any vessel, pick a scent from the Candle Apothecary and leave it with us! ☽ Golden Witchfire ❨

As winter gives way to spring and the air has an undertone of warmth, the transitions can feel heavy. Even though I find most of my creative spark during the winter I do struggle with finding the motivation. Moving into practices of action or turning ideas to reality, winter can seem to cling on, making it a challenging time. It feels like the need of a gentle coaxing or a push off the cliff 🫣 to wake up and find that drive. Despite all of that the coming of a new month and spring feels like the final shedding into the new year. Worries and woes will always be there but finding our footing one step at a time in a world that feels overwhelming is more than enough.

☽ Dive into the Dark ❨

Welcome to the first dark moon of the year in Capricorn, typically a time for introspection and release. This year’s energy beckons us to reassess our goals and commitments, inviting us to shed the outdated structures that no longer serve our path.

Lately, I’ve found myself in conversations about some new influences coming through and I’ve noticed so many others are as well. One of the most significant energies emerging is Venus, but she’s showing up with a chthonic twist. Traditionally associated with love, beauty and relationships, Venus is now challenging us to confront our darker impulses and insecurities, pushing us to dive deep into our emotions.

This revelation feels like a gut punch, lighting a fire of creativity within, demanding a fresh start grounded in authenticity and purpose. For me, It almost feels violent, reverberating through my bones.

Venus acts as our guide along this journey, urging us to reflect on our yearnings and desires. She invites us to acknowledge the joy they can bring, while also revealing the suffering we tend to ignore. Guiding us to learn from our experiences, be present in the feels and hold ourselves accountable.

What ever that energy or that presence looks like to you, take a deep breath of what they have to offer. This is a big year of change and accountability. Hold on to your hats.
