My dear friend @nora_keyes is having a solo art show at @last_projects 9/25 7pm - “Luminosities of the Inner Eye”
➻ Nora Keyes, artist and lead singer of Los Angeles underground art-rock acts like Fancy Space People, Elf Freedom, and The Centimeters combines painting and collage for intricate, multidimensional pieces that are meant as meditation devises to induce visionary states. The absorbing work when meditated on has the capacity to take the viewer on a journey where they experience the peice uniquely to them. Similar to a Rorschach test where each viewer may see something different these pieces function as visionary tools. Where a Rorschach test is comprised of a two dimensional abstractions, Keyes’s work differs by utilizing many perspectives that create a shapeshifting three dimensional terrain. Keyes creates these pieces through painting her own visions she sees in the abstract paint swirls & pieces of collaged paper thrown like a divination. Painting in her own visions causes a phenomenon she believes is the language & geometry of visionary hallucinatory states which may activate this state in others. Some of her time intensive pieces are dense layers containing weeks or months of her visions layered on top of one another creating a complex interference pattern for hallucinatory experience. For this show there will be a book where viewers can draw & write about what they personally saw & felt creating a multi experiential narrative beyond Keyes’ own . by @astraleyez

I’ve been a huge fan of @ghostwoodfox Charlie Fox’s curation and writing for a while now so when I saw he had his very first fiction novel out I had to get it ( even though I’m mainly a nonfiction reader these days)
Can’t wait to sink my teeth in !

Tim Curry 🥀

Tim Curry was one the first actors I really resonated with.
1985’s CLUE and LEGEND were integral films that informed my aesthetics growing up then a couple years later I saw Rocky Horror and it changed everything for me. However this incredible performance of his in The Worst Witch
1986 is perfection.
Rest easy Mr. Curry - may your memory be eternal

➻ Fourteen years ago I screened my Japanese import DVD copy of #BelladonnaOfSadness / #KanashiminoBelladonna 1973 directed by #EiichiYamamoto (part of a film trilogy developed by the godfather of manga Osamu Tezuka ,here in Los Angeles to a sold out underground warehouse show. This led to several industry folks that were there that night to talk with the production company Cinelicious who eventually got the film restored & redistributed back in the public eye.
My friends at Hat & Beard Press published this in-depth companion book that an another dear friend of mine , Jess Hundley wrote, edited and art directed. It included script excerpts, stills and other ephemera from the film, which unfortunately is long out of print.
➻All of this is to say that I am happy to finally announce that my vintage book shop @bibliomancerbooks ( a division of @bibliomancers ) has teamed up with my dear friend @japaneseavantgardebooks to be the official shop here in the U.S where you can get his brilliantly curated collection!
• We just in fact sold this book in the shop.
Each month there will be a special selection

One self is thankful for the opportunity to connect and share seemingly limitless knowledge and archival information with everyone around the world. The friendships I have forged over the decades is truly priceless and has helped shaped my life for the better.
Thee øther self knows the internet is not what it once was and I believe that actual psychical archival material- books, magazines or any paper ephemera is extremely important and should be protected from the hungry ghost known as the Internet. 🛜 💀
𖦹➤ As someone who has spent literally years scanning and uploading my personal archived psychical media with the intention to share and connect to other archivists and folks who appreciate it, I’ve realized these uploads once released online -mutate, they are commodified and mined- the intrinsic power is vampirized -becoming nothing but corrupted data to feed the algorithm of corporate interests.
What I’m expressing is my internet fatigue.
I absolutely still see the value in it however the way it is being used - as an infinite data upload is at a critical juncture right now - all we are doing is feeding the cybernetic machine gawd at the end of time.
We are its tool, not the other way around.

☻︎ ☠︎ 𖦹 also hyper aware that by using this application to express my disdain is actually helping to feed the cycle 🔄 ⚫️ by @astraleyez
