What you see here is the Sh2-132 nebula—known as the Lion Nebula—located in the constellation Cepheus. The light forming this image traveled a full 10,400 years before reaching us. To the left sits Abell 79, discovered in 1947; it is a small, unusual planetary nebula—estimated to be between 5,900 and 11,360 light-years away—nicknamed “The 6 Nebula” due to its shape, which resembles the number 6.

SHARK NEBULA — LDN 1235

FULL SIZE LINK IN BIO

Sometimes, to photograph something thousands of light-years away, you first have to learn how to make something work that is just a few centimeters from you.
This is LDN 1235, in the constellation Cepheus. A dark nebula that, seen from here, looks like a shark slowly swimming through an ocean of stars.
The idea of shooting with a dual setup came about during one of those rare nights when the sky and the weather finally decide to grant you a few hours.
So I asked myself:
“Why not use two telescopes?”
That simple idea launched a journey that lasted nearly a year.
Two telescopes. Two cameras. A single frame.
I built a custom Losmandy bar, ran tests, made modifications, and realigned everything. And just when I thought I’d solved it all, the images would remind me that I hadn’t quite got there yet.
The two telescopes were looking at the same nebula... but each in its own way.
That led to the fine-tuning—adjustments of a tenth of a millimeter and endless testing.
And even a solution that still makes me smile today:
a razor blade.
Eventually, slowly, the two instruments began to see the same thing.
Then came the hardest part: learning to trust the system.
Two ASIairs, focusing, tracking, dithering, connections... and that nagging feeling that I’d forgotten something. 😂
But one night, finally, everything worked.
The telescopes started shooting. I stopped making corrections.
And for a few hours, I simply gazed at the sky.
Perhaps that is exactly what I love about astrophotography. Behind a seemingly silent photograph lie days of work, mistakes, trial and error, patience, and a few muttered curses.
Then, in the end, all of that fades away.
Only the image remains.
A shark immersed in darkness, slowly drifting through a sea of stars, thousands of light-years away from us.
And in that moment, you realize it was worth it.

The supergiant star Gamma Cygni lies at the center of the constellation Cygnus. Known by the proper name Sadr, the star also sits at the heart of this beautiful panorama—a complex of stars, dust clouds, and emission nebulae along the plane of the Milky Way. Among these is the emission nebula IC 1318 (the Butterfly Nebula).
At the very center of Cygnus lies Sadr, a supergiant star shining in the deep sky. Although it appears wrapped in a gigantic red cloud in photographs, this is actually just a trick of perspective: the star is much closer, while the nebula lies in the background. It is one of the most beloved targets for astrophotographers. A dark dust lane splits the nebula in two, creating a shape resembling a giant butterfly. It is one of the most fascinating and popular subjects for those who photograph the cosmos.

NGC 281 - ABELL 2

✨ WORK IN PROGRESS ✨

Hidden in the constellation of Cassiopeia lies the **Pacman Nebula**, a vast cloud of gas and cosmic dust where new stars are being born. 🌌

Its shape resembles the famous video game character “Pac-Man” while eating, which is how it got its unique nickname.

Located about **9,000 light-years from Earth**, this stellar nursery glows as young stars illuminate the surrounding gas, creating stunning colors in space.

The planetary nebula Abell 2 is located in the constellation Cassiopeia, about 1 ° west of the 3.4 mag bright star Achird (η Cassiopeiae). On 6 October it is in opposition to the Sun and crosses the meridian at local midnight. The best observation time is June to March.

VdB 152

The nebular complex VdB 152 is a very faint object located in the constellation Cepheus. While the name VdB 152 technically refers only to the central blue reflection nebula, the surrounding region also includes the reddish nebula LBN 528, which spans about 30 light-years at an estimated distance of 1,300 light-years.
The blue color of VdB 152 is caused by starlight being reflected off interstellar dust, whereas the reddish hue of LBN 528 is mainly due to emission from dust excited by the ultraviolet radiation of nearby stars.

M8 – Lagoon Nebula

The Lagoon Nebula (Messier 8) is a stunning star-forming region located in the constellation Sagittarius, about 4,100 light-years from Earth. It is an emission nebula, rich in ionized hydrogen that glows with a characteristic red hue due to the ultraviolet radiation emitted by young, hot stars. At its heart lies the open star cluster NGC 6530, which lights up and shapes the surrounding clouds of gas and dust.

✨ SH2-115 ✨
The SH2-115 Nebula is an emission nebula located in the #constellation Cygnus. It lies in the northern part of the constellation, northwest of Deneb. This vast region of hydrogen — an H II region — is about 7,500 light-years away from us.
Right next to it, the tiny Sh2-116, a bubble of ionized gas, glows mainly thanks to the emission of hydrogen and ionized oxygen.
Captured between July and August, both during the full Moon and Moonless nights.

What gives energy to the #Heart #Nebula This vast nebula also named IC 1805 does indeed look like a large heart. The image shows us a bright red that represents the main element, hydrogen. The size and brightness of this nebula depend on a small group of young stars that are located in the center of the nebula. These stars belong to the open cluster Melotte 15 formed by a few bright stars almost 50 times the mass of our Sun, many very dim stars and a microquasar that was expelled millions of years ago. The Heart Nebula is located about 7,500 light years away towards the constellation of Cassiopeia. at the top we have WEBO 1 planetary nebula

Ic1848 is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cassiopeia, approximately 6500 light-years from Earth. It forms a famous pair with the nearby Heart Nebula. The Soul Nebula is also sometimes known as the Embryo Nebula or IC1848, which is a designation used for the open star cluster embedded in the nebula.

The Heart and Soul Nebula complex extends over an area of about 300 light years and is a vast region of star formation illuminated by the light of young stars surrounded by clouds of dust and gas. The two large clouds are separated by just 2.5 degrees and physically connected by a gas bridge. The stars in the region are less than a few million years old and are only at the beginning of their long lives.

TRUNK NEBULA
