‘Taking Flight’ (nearly). Our beautiful Artemis III Space Launch System (SLS) Core Stage left the surface of the earth (briefly) today as it ‘flew over the hump’ via a giant crane in the Vehicle Assembly Building to be mated between our 2 already assembled Solid Rocket Boosters on the Mobile Launcher. Spectacular job by our SLS, Exploration Ground Systems, and @NASAKennedy team! Go @NASAArtemis III! by @astrokomrade

Wise proverb - 'If you want to go fast, go alone... if you want to go far, go together!' by @astrokomrade

#NationalAviationDay is time to remember the #FlightSpark that started my aviation journey. Maybe it was during my first flight pictured here when I was 1 ½ yrs old (although my mother said I fell asleep!)

My journey continued flying F/A-18s @marines, but another spark led me to become a Test Pilot @usntps , pictured here doing weapons separation flight test in 4th Super Hornet.

The journey to become a Test Pilot also sparked my interest in flying aviation history, especially Warbirds. Experiencing and having insight into the evolution of aviation of completely different eras. Here flying the only Super Corsair F2D-1G in existence.

The journey continued as I joined @nasa as an astronaut, where today I am fortunate to fly our T-38Ns at @nasajohnson

The journey will continue as we prepare to fly the next @nasaartemis mission next year. I’ll be flying with @astro_luca , @astro_frankrubio, & @astro_andred on Artemis III. If you are looking for your ‘spark’, come to @nasakennedy for NASA.GOV/maxpower and see what American @nasaaero, Military, Spaceflight, and Technology will be showcased that might ignite the spark for your next journey! by @astrokomrade

3 weeks after the announcement and still very appreciative of the new Astronaut tradition of 'Passing the baton/Passing the torch/Carrying the Fire'. Many more of these and more often with accelerated
@nasaartemis missions! by @astrokomrade

Introducing Artemis III.

Four astronauts. Three launches. Two dockings. One splashdown.

In 2027, the Artemis III mission will practice docking the Orion spacecraft with two lunar landers in low Earth orbit. On future Artemis missions, landers will bring astronauts to the lunar surface. While Artemis III will not land on the Moon, it will test the complex capabilities we need to return humanity there — this time to stay.

NASA astronauts @AstroKomrade, @Astro_FrankRubio, and @Astro_AndreD will join @EuropeanSpaceAgency astronaut @Astro_Luca on this historic mission.

At <5 hours to Launch of #artemis -1….No, this isn’t @nasaastronauts rushing to get onboard, but rather a pic from earlier this week when we saw this beautiful @nasa_spacelaunchsystem on the launch pad. Current and future Astronauts out there anxiously awaiting our first #artemis flight, watch on @nasa TV! by @astrokomrade

Launch count for #artemis -1 getting short with many more final checks to go on an amazingly beautiful @NASAKennedy morning. by @astrokomrade

We are Ready! With #artemis -1 on the pad, checkout a great video overview by #nasaartemis of the mission. https://youtube/wKwoBudYlil by @astrokomrade

@iss thank you for 20 yrs of continuous human presence in space! From incredible science conducted onboard to spacewalks for upgrades & maintenance outside, our amazing international team has made this tech-marvel possible. Our perspective from #iss20 leads the way as we accelerate forward to #artemis Exploration msns. The future is very, very bright! #spacestation20th @nasa by @astrokomrade

Super Corsair -F2G-1D- from a #pilotsperspective on #national aviation day, out of the jets, props, helos, gliders, blimp and spacecraft I have flown, this is my all-time favorite! A one-of-a-kind aircraft when I had the fortunate opportunity to fly with the incomparable Bob Odegaard. Thank you Bob, while you may be gone, you will never be forgotten! Flying ‘Dazzling Donna’ was a close second! @nasa @nasaaero @nasaastronauts by @astrokomrade

#nationalaviationday Just some of the Big ‘A’ in NASA that I have been fortunate to fly over the years. @nasa is much more than just Space - with new X-Planes on the way, come join us explore our skies! @nasaaero @nasaastronauts #pilotperspective by @astrokomrade

#nationalaviationday Slipping the ‘surly bonds of #earth’ has been the ‘Lure of Flight’ for over the past century. Gorgeous Houston #sunset on a recent flight! @nasa @nasaaero @nasaastronauts #pilotsperspective by @astrokomrade
