— Émission (rose) : nuage de gaz ionisé ;
— Réflexion (bleue) : poussières éclairées par l’étoile HD 164514 ;

M20, the Trifid Nebula ☘️ One of the wonders of summer.

What do you see? A clover, a cat, or something else ? Shoutout to my mom for seeing a cat—makes a fun story 😝 Personally, I still have a hard time seeing it!

Located about 5 000 light-years away, this beauty of the summer night sky is remarkable for its structure. It combines three types of nebulae:
— Emission (pink): ionized gas cloud
— Reflection (blue): dust illuminated by the star HD 164514
— Dark (Barnard 85): dust absorbing light from the background
An open cluster is also present right at its core.

Wow. Sublime. Merveilleux. Grandiose. by @astronomer_ben

🇬🇧 Be a star 🇬🇧

💖 Our Home. Notre Galaxie. ✨

Ensemble.

🇬🇧 For my International Friends 🇬🇧

We should look up at the night sky more often to realize how small our struggles are compared to the immensity of the universe. Let’s support each other, love each other, and explore it together.
