✨The Celestial Pillars⛰️

STORY:
This was truly one of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever experienced in the Dolomites. The impossibly towering peaks of Tre Cime rise dramatically into the sky, crowned by a magnificent pillar of the Milky Way stretching high above them.

This was the view I had dreamed of witnessing with my own eyes and, at the same time, capturing through my camera. Earlier that day, my family and I hiked around these majestic peaks, taking in the incredible scenery along the way. The views were simply unforgettable, leaving us in complete awe of the beauty surrounding us.
I was also incredibly lucky to have the weather on my side in the Dolomites, allowing me to capture this magnificent moment and bring to life the composition I had envisioned and planned long before leaving home.✨

This is not A.I. This is a real timelapse of the constellation Orion ✨ captured from O'ahu, Hawai'i.

📷 Sony a7iii and 20mm 1.8
⚙️ 300 shots at 15s, f/1.8, ISO 640

✨ The Orion constellation is dominated by seven exceptionally bright stars that outline the Hunter's hourglass shape. Their names are Rigel, Betelgeuse, Bellatrix, Saiph, and the three belt stars: Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka.

The Brightest Stars & Body Parts

⭐ Rigel (Beta Orionis): A massive, luminous blue supergiant that marks the Hunter's left knee/foot. It is the brightest star in Orion.

⭐ Betelgeuse (Alpha Orionis): A massive red supergiant that marks the Hunter's right shoulder. It is the second-brightest star in the constellation and famous for its distinct orange-red hue.

⭐ Bellatrix (Gamma Orionis): A hot, blue giant marking the left shoulder. It is often referred to as the "Amazon Star."

⭐ Saiph (Kappa Orionis): A blue supergiant marking the bottom right corner (the right knee) of the Hunter's frame.

Orion's Belt

⭐ Alnitak (Zeta Orionis): Marks the easternmost end of the belt.

⭐ Alnilam (Epsilon Orionis): The central star of the belt, whose Arabic name means "string of pearls".

⭐ Mintaka (Delta Orionis): The westernmost star of the belt, located closest to the celestial equator.

The Cygnus constellation and its dusty surroundings. While hiking, I found these cool rocks with Cygnus on top. At 50mm this is a target with so many details, but I’ve taken it so many times over the years that this time I wanted to do something different and capture the dust nearby. I took 4 panels with 4 hours of integration each. It surprised me how faint the dust in this area is, and another thing I wasn’t expecting was seeing so many tiny nebulae, like the Squid, Iris, Seahorse and Dark Scorpion nebulae, at this focal length.

Anzeige - I’ve been out the last days to take my solar project to the next level. This time, I wanted to photograph an airplane passing in front of the H-Alpha Sun. It’s a difficult undertaking, since airplanes rarely fly in front of the Sun. On top of that, the weather, the setup (focus, correct wavelength, enough storage space), the settings (exposure time, gain), and the timing all have to be just right. After quite a few “close calls,” I finally succeeded.
Here you can see the H-Alpha Sun with the airplane, the video of the H-Alpha Sun as the airplane flies by, and some close ups.

I’m very happy with the result and glad that there are always new projects that fascinate me so much. I mean, wow… how amazing does that look? And you can photograph something like this while comfortably sipping a good cup of coffee.

@astroshop.eu and @omegonoptics supported me on this project. Thank you so much!

🌌Beneath a Cosmic Rain🌌

Perseid Meteor shower 2026💫

Location: Julian Alps - ridge above the Mangart saddle

STORY:
The time has finally come to share the first of my photographs from this year’s Perseid meteor shower!

The composition I had dreamed of capturing during the peak of the Perseids had finally become a reality.

Standing atop a steep, exposed ridge, gazing across at the mighty, rugged peak of Mangart with Milky Way streching across was an experience beyond words. But that wasn’t all. This time, I had the most precious person in the world by my side — my dearest wife, @ancka.finkova ❤️

How could a night like this not result in something truly epic and unforgettable when shared with the best possible company?😍

It was our second consecutive night together beneath a sky filled with stars and countless shooting stars. And honestly, in all my years of night photography, I had never witnessed so many meteors! Over the course of just two nights, I managed to capture more than 200 of them. Absolutely incredible!💥

Creating this image was an enormous project, requiring extensive knowledge, careful planning, and countless hours of work, from the initial preparations in the field to the final image. To give you an idea of the effort involved, processing the entire 360° panorama alone took me eight days — more than 30 hours of editing!

But some experiences are worth every minute of the effort. And this was certainly one of them.

More than just a photograph, this is a memory of two unforgettable nights, a sky full of shooting stars, and a moment shared with the person who makes my adventure even more special.

Because sometimes, the most beautiful thing about looking up at the universe is having someone you love standing right beside you. ❤️✨

Cassiopeia and the dust in the Milky Way, often a forgotten region, eclipsed by others with stronger emissions.

Years ago, when I shot it quickly, I noticed a lot of dusty structures: the Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN), high galactic latitude dust illuminated not by nearby stars, but by the combined light of the whole Milky Way. I thought: I have to revisit it with a 50mm and proper integration time.

Now, with 44 hours of integration, so many nights of driving, staying there, looking north, shooting... nothing. An empty field of stars. The routine was: check the weather, drive, stay the whole night shooting, and come back home wondering what I’d get out of this.

Now, with all the dust revealed, seeing it for myself makes me wonder how we can see so little, just stars, when in that direction there is so much, so much dust, so much nebulosity. We cannot see it, as if our eyes were lacking insight. But a camera, combined with patience... how curious.

Most astrophotographers think better images come from better gear.

But one of the biggest differences between an average result and a powerful final image often comes from processing.

That’s exactly why I created my Nightscape Masterclass Courses — to show the full workflow I use to transform my images step by step, from RAW to final result.

Inside, I cover everything from:

• Stacking
• Color processing
• Enhancing dust & nebulae
• H-Alpha blending
• Foreground / sky blending
• Advanced sharpening
• And more…

If you’ve ever felt like your RAW files have way more potential than what you’re currently getting from them, this Masterclass was made for you.

The Summer Sale is currently live for a limited time, so if you’ve been thinking about joining, now is the best time.

Comment “MASTERCLASS” below and I’ll send you the details.

On the morning of August 28, I photographed approximately 50% of the lunar eclipse from Ladik, Samsun, Türkiye.
In order to follow the changes in the Moon throughout the eclipse, I tried to take photographs at approximately 5-minute intervals. However, due to periods of increasing cloud cover, I had to pause the shooting at times. As a result, the time intervals between some of the photographs varied.
As the eclipse progressed and sunrise approached, the ambient light began to change rapidly. This caused noticeable differences in the Moon's color tones, particularly in the final photographs. To achieve a more balanced appearance, I made color adjustments to the final images using Photoshop.
The photographs were taken with a Sony DSC-HX60 camera.
Despite the challenges caused by the clouds, this composition captures the changing appearance of the Moon during approximately 50% of the lunar eclipse. 🌘📷

The Pillars of Creation are towering columns of cold gas and dust in the Eagle Nebula, where new stars are actively forming. Hubble’s iconic 1995 image captured the pillars in visible light, revealing their sculpted surfaces but leaving much of their interior hidden behind dust. James Webb’s near-infrared view penetrates that dust, exposing hundreds of newly formed stars, dense protostellar cores, and intricate structures that provide a much deeper look into the physics of star formation.

"Dark Moon"

Ever wondered the effect a Lunar Eclipse has on the night sky?
As the Earth's shadow gently sweeps across the moon's surface, a really strange phenomenon starts to happen.

Over the course of a couple hours, you start feeling something is off. The moonlit landscape around you slowly gets dimmer, the shadows start to disappear, and all of a sudden you find yourself immersed beneath a sky full of stars and the Milky Way arching over your head.

I truly didn't expect a Partial Lunar Eclipse to cause the sky to darken so much, but the memory of looking at a red moon with just a thin crescent shining really bright, and being able to see the sky as if it were a New Moon is something quite strange to witness let me tell you.

This was a shot I planned a long time ago. Fortunately I've been gifted with the clearest skies and the chance to be in a really dark place.

Honestly, one of my favorite parts of the night sky.
When shooting with an Astro-Modified camera, the Cygnus region reveals the colors and structure our eyes aren't capable of seeing without the aid of special filters and/or telescope imagery.
Among all those complex clouds of color lie the North America Nebula, Elephant's Trunk, the Sadr Region and many more, but what amazes me the most is looking at that faint patch of light in the top.

Andromeda, 2.5 million light years away from us and yet, the closest major galaxy to the Milky Way.

Tonight, the Moon enters Earth’s shadow

A Partial Lunar Eclipse is happening tonight, with almost the entire Moon disappearing into Earth’s shadow.

Unfortunately here it’s 100% cloudy so I thought this was the perfect moment to bring back one of my favorite lunar images of the Blood Moon I captured back in 2019.

There’s something surreal about watching our familiar Moon slowly change color, turning from bright white to deep copper and red as Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon.

Seven years later, I still remember watching this one unfold through my camera.

Hope you enjoy !
