Sol*.

Over the past few months, we’ve brought together a powerful collective of creatives to shape what will become our first inaugural photobook. This project is the amalgamation of a question; how does one exist as unknown in the DMV?

More than a collection, Sol* is a departure from the conventional where we use our platform to illuminate the creations often overlooked from local artists. Through this work, we aim to eternalize their voices, preserving moments and perspectives that deserve to be seen and remembered.

This photobook marks the beginning of the legacy Solace* is committed to building; one grounded in discovery, storytelling, and the illumination of creatives carving their own paths.

Sol* - available for purchase May 2nd @ Off The Record.

~ 20 percent of proceeds will go towards the CASA foundation to support immigrants based in the DMV who have been impacted by ice. by @at.solace

Komorebi 木漏れ日 (pronounced kō-mō-reh-bē) /The japanese phrase meaning sunlight leaking through trees.

Through the shadiest parts of life, light still shines through; we just don't care to focus on it.

But when we do, it can encourage full creative mental liberation.

“CTS” invites aspiring artists to an intimate evening of honest conversation, creative growth, and real talk — hosted by @parissmonett, featuring our special guest artist @nneka.co.

If you don’t know Nneka yet, now’s the time.
Nneka is the founder of @nnexus.co, a creative ecosystem born from freedom, rooted in movement, and driven by impact. Through NNEXUS, she works at the intersection of beauty, movement, style, sound, and film, creating global campaigns and immersive cultural experiences.
Her creative journey spans 45+ Fashion Week shows across NYC, Paris, London, and Milan, along with campaign strategy, beauty, and large-scale productions for brands including EMPIRE, L’Oréal Paris, and Converse. Her work has also been featured in Vogue, Vogue Scandinavia, and The Office Magazine.
At Cut The Sh*t, Nneka will get real about her creative journey — sharing insight on how to level up your creative process, navigate creative blocks, and push through the internal and external barriers that can come with being an aspiring artist from the DMV.

No bs. No gatekeeping. Just real conversation, real tools, and real energy.

The inspiration behind this piece was centered around the idea of how when you first enter this world, your nothing but a blank slate.

There is nothing that has started to pollute your psyche or your mind just yet, so when you leave this world, the only thing that’s left is the return to that blank slate. & that’s what Cut The Shit means to me. Severing the shit that doesn’t align with who you are anymore and allowing yourself to go back to the “drawing board”.

Within creative spaces, there is often pressure to appear confident, and endlessly inspired - while privately grappling with self-doubt, creative blocks and burnout. This disconnect often leads to creative blocks and an ultimate disservice to the work.

In addition we find that many aspiring artist tend to overly focus on the goal or finished piece - forgetting that in order to materialize our visions we must first focus on refining our internal processes and free the narratives holding us back from the output we desire.

With that said , we invite DMV creatives to join us at Cut The Sh*t - an intimate gathering centered in connection, art, ambient sounds by Dj Nolawe and honest conversations.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn and connect with the established MUA, creative director and founder of Nnexus - Nneka Onyima. Allowing you to get real world advice and leave inspired to cut the sh*t.

Host: parissmonett
Dj: @nolawetemketem
Art curators: @hc_axl @celine.nco
Dj design: @tub.ular

The CTS exhibition will highlight DMV photagraphers across various aesthetics to share work that represents identity, growth, self-expression, and the stories behind their creations.
Works featured explore self-discovery , culture and vulnerability.

We invited 6 artists from across the DMV to join us for a creative showcase and raw, unfiltered conversation.

@yemi.sol
@missjadaangel
@chemx001
@deep_courtesy
@3timesfree
@6fiteu

The interviews explore the internal and external constraints shaping these creatives, while opening up new commentary around culture, familial support, identity, and the racialized political systems we navigate.

Whether or not you consider yourself an “artist,” I believe there’s something here for everyone. These conversations are an invitation to look inward, ask better questions, and ultimately—cut the shit.

Watch the extended version via our Linktree. Individual artist showcases will be dropping on TikTok & YouTube.

78N 44W

These Images were taken in my hometown at the marley station mall, located in glen burnie maryland. This space has transitioned with me throughout my life
from elementary to middle school to high school to now. Currently it seems to be in its final stage before retreating to complete isolation— or turning into who knows - a data center perhaps ( i hope not) .

So when i wanted to create a conceptual piece that
reflected where i was at the time : 21 and about to graduate college with no clue of where im going while dealing with the grief of having to let go aspects of my youth as I transition into the monotony of work life, i knew that this mall was the perfect physical embodiment of my mental experience . 78N 44W seeks to encapsulate the duality that exist within these transitionary periods of our life by showcasing the beauty, anxiety, and loss of youth or familiarity that comes with being in a state of the unknown. Though these moments are often overwhelming as they show us how little control we have over the pace of time.

These liminal periods serve as important reminders that it’s important to surrender to the present moment and allow the universe/ God to take over
while remaining open to new possibilities . Im not really sure what will become of Marley Station Mall next, or where I am going but either way I know have to go.
