5 days. Countless casts. Nothing but small fish... while everyone around me was hooking solid GTs. Somehow, this always seems to happen to me. The longer the dry spell, the bigger the reward. Then came the first proper bite... and it turned into the 2nd biggest Giant Trevally I’ve ever landed. 💃 Reel: Shimano Stella 10,000 PG Rod: Daiwa Shore Spartan Coastal Max 120 gram Line: @varivas_japan PE 4 Jig: @ezjigz TunaBolt 120 grams Leader: Duel 80 Ib CarboNylon Hooks: @bkk_arabia Hand made assist hook by @atallabythereef
My biggest ever GT from shore. For years, I watched fish of a lifetime disappear into the reef. Broken leaders, pulled hooks, cut-offs… moments that stayed with me long after the line went slack. Every loss hurt, and every one of them made me question what I could have done differently. But looking back now, those fish didn’t take anything from me. They gave me experience. They taught me patience, composure, and how to stay calm when everything is on the line. When this GT striked, it wasn’t just a fight against a fish. It was the culmination of every lesson learned from the fish that beat me before. The moments that break you, disappoint you, and leave you empty-handed often feel like failures when you’re living through them. But years later, you realize they were preparing you for something bigger. #RedSea #ShoreJigging #BigFish #GT #ReefFishing by @atallabythereef
This GT had me guessing! 🎣 Heavy like a GT, but without the usual aggression… until it got close to the reef edge and showed me exactly what a big GT can do! 💥🔥 Reel: Shimano Stella 10,000 PG Rod: Daiwa Shore Spartan Coastal max 120 gram Line: Varivas PE 4 Jig: @invokefishing Rocket 90 grams Leader: Duel 80 lb CarboNylon Hooks: handmade @bkk_arabia Deep assist hook 8/0 #RedSea #ShoreJigging #ReefFishing #GT #BigFish by @atallabythereef
Still can't get enough of these Red Sea GTs #RedSea #ShoreJigging #Trevally #GT #Tuna by @atallabythereef
You need to be veeeery lucky to land those ones without cutting you off. I guess I was lucky enough that day 😜🤷🏽‍♂️ #RedSea #ShoreJigging #Trevally #GT #Mackarel by @atallabythereef
Fishing isn’t always about muscles and pumping the fish. 💪😂 Sometimes the rod breaks, the plan goes to hell, and you have to start using your brain. 🧠 #RedSea #ShoreJigging #Trevally #GT #Tuna by @atallabythereef
Dogtooth tuna have only shown me extreme… Monsters I couldn’t stop, or fish too small to remember. This one finally stayed — my first proper dogtooth landed 🎣🤍 📸: @hookedbyhatem #RedSea #MarsaAlam #ShoreJigging #ReefFishing #DogTooth by @atallabythereef
10 full minutes of chaos on the reef with this yellow spotted trevally. The fish buried itself deep into the corals several times, and with a light 45lb fluorocarbon leader, putting too much pressure would’ve been the end of it. Had to stay patient and slowly work the fish back out every single time without touching the reef. Definitely one of those fights that tests your nerves more than your gear. After 3 full years without landing a Dogtooth Tuna from the boat, this one felt extra special. 🎣🔥 I was lucky enough to catch 3 Doggies that day while jigging, but since they were all around the same size, I’m sharing just one photo. Two of them were caught on the amazing jigs from @lifeunderspinning — they absolutely did the job! 💪 #RedSea #Jigging #DogTooth #GT #Tuna by @atallabythereef
Reef-side power… GT showed up 🔥 #RedSea #MarsaAlam #ShoreJigging #ReefFishing #GT by @atallabythereef
Not a giant, but still a GT. 🎣 Reel: Shimano Stella 10,000 PG Rod: Daiwa Shore Spartan Coastal max 120 gram Line: Varivas PE 4 Jig: @ezjigz EZStrike 100g Leader: Duel 80 lb CarboNylon Hooks: handmade @bkk_arabia Deep assist hook 8/0 by @atallabythereef
A good-looking Bluefin Trevally from the reef. These fish might not reach the size of a GT, but the speed and aggression they bring to the fight is something else. The hit was explosive and the run straight for the reef… exactly what makes chasing trevallies from shore so addictive. Released safe to fight another day.
