REDEFINING MASCULINITY

For some men, a woman’s financial independence feels like a threat.

Not necessarily because they dislike successful women, but because they have tied their sense of masculinity to their financial superiority.

So when the woman they are dating or married to begins to earn more, the questions begin:

Will she still respect me?
Will I still feel like a man?
Will I lose my place in the relationship?

But here is the bigger question:

If a woman earns more than a man, does that make him less of a man?

Perhaps it is time to expand our understanding of masculinity beyond money, status and provision.

These are the conversations we need to have about the modern man.
