Apparently life didn’t get the memo that major milestones are supposed to arrive one at a time.

Right now, I’m about to get married. I just moved into my first home. I’m travelling, working toward career goals, and also trying to actually enjoy the life happening around me.

And I don’t want building my future to mean putting my present on hold.

I’m learning that balance doesn’t necessarily mean choosing one goal over another. Sometimes it means making a plan that gives all of them a little room and accepting that progress might look different depending on the season you’re in.

Because I’m not saving for just one thing – I’m building a life with a lot of things I’m excited about, and I want to enjoy the “getting there” part too.

Thanks @josiebalka for finding the words for all the hope, uncertainty, and very human feelings behind the plans we make.

We’re currently in a very transitional season for our business. We’re moving out of the local market where we started and grew for the last 3 years, and into a space of our own 🤍

But the bigger we grow, the more we’ve had to think about what we’re building alongside the business. Because when you run a business with your partner, there isn’t always an obvious off switch. There’s the excitement of betting on yourself, but also the vulnerability of putting so much on the line.

For us, saving is about more than the next business milestone. It’s about creating the freedom and stability to keep building something we believe in, while still making room for the life we’re building together. Our goal is to build a life we love alongside a business we love.

Somewhere between school drop-off, working and trying to live in the moment, I realized I was treating my finances like a to-do list that I’d get to “eventually.”
