Maroula Zacharias is a Boston-based architect, designer, researcher and founder of Atelier Morphology @ateliermorphology a smart, robotic lighting studio focused on transforming the interiors’ connection to nature through light.

As part of an unforgettable evening celebrating creativity, innovation, and inclusivity across the STEAM disciplines, our launch event featured a thought-provoking panel discussion and an exhibition showcasing the remarkable works of the Femmes Designers Community. During the event, Maroula presented her cross-disciplinary research on 3D-printable bio-composites and reconfigurable optics, exploring how these technologies bridge the human body, its senses and biological rhythms, with the built environment we inhabit.

Light quietly sustains life around us, from our own rhythms to the growth of plants on a windowsill.

At Atelier Morphology, we design with this in mind.

Because, as we like to say, light isn’t just functional. It is biological.

The BIOPHILIA collection, launched during @icff_official and @wanteddesign in May 2023. While working with excitement towards our next steps, I wanted to thank everyone for the endless support and inspiration, during and after the show. Can’t want to share more as we get into the Fall 🍃 -Maroula taken in Javits Center by @ateliermorphology
