six months ago, I dropped everything and moved back home 💛

a dream that had lived in me for so long (since I first left my hometown) and a decision I made with someone when my life looked very differently. things changed quick and it took a lot of courage to sit with myself, my questions, my fears and say: “I still want this”

in the first two weeks of being home, I lost my grandmother, ran into the person who hurt me living his new little life, and received rejection after rejection for jobs I applied. I remember wondering “what have I done?”

without doubt it has been six months of uncertainty, anxiety, and questions. but it has also been six months of the most radical love, accompaniment, and listening—the kind you do with your soul.

starting over is scary—but let’s normalize starting over as many times as you need—there’s purpose waiting for you in the places you’re being called to ✨

my one prayer was: may I laugh as hard as I once cried there—it’s only been half a year and we’re certainly laughing, dancing, hugging, and living love out loud! so grateful for my people!!!

there’s something so special about being called by name 🤍

in a society that so easily gets wrapped up in egocentric values, may we remember that being known by others is essential to our calling and purpose here 💫

for a few weeks now, I’ve been trying to pick 9 photos to put up in my collage frame wall. while looking through a box of photos and old letters, i kept being drawn to one little but sacred thing: seeing my name written by my community.

yes, you guessed it. instead of photos, i picked 9 of these to put on my wall—perhaps a bit strange to some, but to me: a reminder that i am known by name by people who love me, inspire me, cheer for me, pray for me, and accompany me.

the best type of mess 💌📬

over the years, i have collected every letter, card, note that I’ve been graced with. one of my favorite things to do is look back at them and grab a few random ones to read.

today i feel so grateful this love for letters exists in me—it has added a layer of beauty to this life that not many see 💓

write to someone you love—scratch piece of paper, a card from dollar tree, a postcard, on the back of a photo, or a boarding pass—it doesn’t matter.

don’t miss the chance to tell someone that they inspire you, that their beauty is enough, that they bring power to every space they enter.

@wetheurban put it perfectly when they wrote it is love for others that has always kept our country together. ❤️

250 years of a country that has granted me opportunity, privilege, education, and freedom—with gaps, imperfections, and injustice existing just as widely.

as a first-gen, Mexican-American, i’ve always battled with my identity and sense of belonging. especially as I grew up, learned about, and witnessed the injustices that exist.

in times like today, it is crucial that we remember it is “love for others” that has held our country together.

may we serve and lead with love.
may we challenge out of love.
may we advocate from love.
may we speak up through love.
and may we fight with love, when necessary.

grateful for those who have, are, and continue to advocate so that i can enjoy the privileges i have today.

may the 4th of July be a celebration of the love for others we hope to cultivate as a country… and don’t forget to excercise your duty (vote 😉) ❤️🤍💙
