Athanasios Alexopoulos Visual artist · Thessaloniki, Greece Short Bio: After graduating from high school, Athanasios Alexopoulos worked as an assistant photographer in Thessaloniki for two years. In 2009, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, where he studied painting and later expanded his practice through a Master’s degree in sculpture. Alongside photography and video production, Alexopoulos has explored video art, installation, performance, sound, and sculpture. In 2014, he founded the Taratsa International Film Festival in Thessaloniki and served as its Art Director for two years. His work focuses on experimentation, interdisciplinary connections, and creative research, exploring different languages and forms of expression to challenge visual and theoretical conventions. Artistic Statement: Experimentation and exploration through diverse techniques and languages are at the core of my artistic research. I consider study, polymorphous connections, and presentation through different forms of expression as equally essential aspects of my practice. Creative curiosity is a fundamental force in my understanding of consciousness and reality. Through my work, I aim to challenge established theoretical and visual structures, creating new relationships between ideas, materials, and perceptions. My process is based on listening, observing, thinking, searching, and acting. I explore the space between disciplines, where uncertainty becomes a tool for discovery and transformation. LT ice memory This work exists in a state of permanent loss. Using thermal printing — a process inherently designed to fade — the image carries within itself the conditions of its own disappearance. The mountain, traditionally perceived as a symbol of permanence, is rendered fragile, temporary, and contingent. Heat does not only exist as a subject, but as an active agent. The gold thermal blanket beneath the surface functions both as reflector and accomplice. It evokes rescue, survival, and emergency, while simultaneously suggesting insulation, accumulation, and the impossibility of release. The image is interrupted, fractured, and incomplete. It resists wholeness in the same way environmental collapse resists lin- ear perception. What appears stable is already in the process of vanishing. Time is not external to the work. Time is the work. Sybilla of Lozio is a hybrid and multidisciplinary work. stream video art project, double exposure based on data transmitted by a seismograph of the zone for the online video and more info please visit http://sibillaoflozio.com/ @sibillaoflozio It is structured on several levels of interpretation and composition in order to investigate the invisible characteristics of Lozio, Italy. - stream video - New forms are born every moment, the exposure of the video is under control of the seismograph's data. The images selection of the double exposure is randomly. micro / macro still images and videos of nature are the main subject and also being part of the "memory" of the online contemporary prophet Sibyl, that tells her story constantly, of the zone Lozio, Italy, until the earth turns. The project is in fact based on data transmitted by a seismograph in the area and an algorithm elaborates in real time a continuous and infinite connections between the different materials on the basis of imperceptible - but always present - movements of the ground. énosi digital video, 3’18’’, 1920x1080, 2021 Man lives, acts and modifies the territory he inhabits. The sound of a small and specific urban landscape, its traffic and its service stations explodes into the shapes of satellite images that describe the impact of individual human actions on the entire planet through the visualisation of real data concerning, for example, the temperatures and the amount of airborne particles detected from 1990 to today. Humanity leads the earth to vanish in a still life observed now so closely as to stimulate the imagination towards creating new worlds. Under the lens of an extremely close point of view, nature reveals a new nature and new universes in which to be reborn. Énosis is negation and affirmation. The roar disappears in distant landscapes; speed in slowness. The forms interpenetrate and expand. Real colours and timbres are transformed to open imaginaries.
