Fifteen years ago, Josef Cannon walked into my life. I invited him to audition for the role of the movie producer in the trailer I wrote for my book, Dancing Her Dreams Away. The moment I saw him, I knew he was perfect for the role—and his audition sealed the deal.

What I didn’t know was what a kind and gracious man he was. After his audition, he volunteered to stay and read with the actresses auditioning for the female lead. That told me a lot about the person he was, and the friendship that followed has meant so much to me.

Since then, Josef has continued to flourish, appearing in countless television shows and films. Most recently, he can be seen in Mark Swinton’s powerful drama Route 187, streaming on Paramount+. His character, Paul Crawford, is an inner-city bus driver who opens the first episode, and Josef’s presence is commanding. The opening is explosive, and he brings so much to it.

Today, I want to give Josef his flowers for the talent, hard work, tenacity, and heart he brought to that audition fifteen years ago—and for everything he has accomplished since.

It is an honor to call him my friend. ❤️
