Smell that? It’s our current project! 💩 🐕

Wren and Sara are out on the Oregon coast sniffing out the scat of the rare Humboldt marten! 🐾 They’re a few weeks into the season, and it’s safe to say Wren is absolutely crushing it.

The days are long with endless Pacific wax myrtle dungeons, 7-foot-tall beachgrasses, and young shore pine all twisting together into an extremely dense landscape. But Wren makes navigating this overgrown vegetation look easy, finding scats where humans couldn’t- under fallen trees, inside tiny game tunnels, and deep in the thickets.

Every sample Wren pinpoints gives researchers vital data to aid in Humboldt marten conservation, and we think that’s pretty cool 😎

A massive thank you to our partners at @oregonstate and @k9.conservationists for bringing us onto this project!

Meet Rowan!

Rowan is a very gentle boy who loves his ball, his family, and any animal he meets.

A big shoutout to @searchdogfoundation for saving this sweet boy from a shelter and jump starting his career, and to Lauralea @k9inscentive for completing his initial detection training before placing him in his forever home with our Ecologist, Jacqueline.

Meet Atlas! Our namesake and Chief Sniffing Officer (CSO). He’s kind of a goofball, but he takes his job very seriously.
