One of the most beautiful corners of Versailles is the Galerie de Pierre Haute, a long sculpture gallery in the palace’s North Wing.

The gallery once served the apartments of the Princes, and today it’s lined with sculptures representing important figures from French history.

I loved the combination of the white stone arches, marble sculptures, and black-and-white checkerboard floor.

It’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, so keep an eye out for the Galerie de Pierre Haute as you make your way through the Palace. It’s on the first floor, toward the beginning of the Grand Apartments route, after the Gallery of the History of the Palace.

Most people haven't heard of this tiny village in Tuscany. I certainly hadn't until I stayed there!

Castelmuzio is a small medieval village about an hour and a half by car from Florence, perched on a hill overlooking the Tuscan countryside.

It has ancient walls, stone buildings, a historic church, and a little central piazza.

There are only a handful of restaurants and places to stay, which is part of what makes it so peaceful.

For me, it's one of my favorite home bases in Tuscany when I want somewhere quiet to relax after exploring nearby Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, and Siena.

Montmartre is one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon in Paris.

With its cobblestone streets, ivy-covered buildings, and village-like feel, it has a completely different personality from the grand boulevards and monuments in the heart of the city.

A few places I’d definitely add to your list:

• Le Moulin de la Galette, the historic windmill made famous by Renoir’s painting Bal du moulin de la Galette.

• The view from Sacré-Cœur, one of my favorite places to look out over Paris.

• Place du Tertre, where local artists still set up their easels. We bought one of our favorite paintings of Paris here!

• La Maison Rose, the iconic pink restaurant tucked along Rue de l’Abreuvoir. It’s a great place to stop for traditional French food while exploring the neighborhood.

Have you visited Montmartre? If you have any can't-miss stops, I'd love to know! An ivy-lined cobblestone street in Montmartre in Paris. taken in Montmartre, Paris by @atlasette

The historic city center of Bruges, Belgium is filled with little spots to grab a bite to eat or drink. Many of them are quite picturesque, like this one!

For an authentic Belgian meal, I also recommend Restaurant Diligence, right in the city center. We really enjoyed our meal here, especially the Flemish beef stew, a classic Belgian dish made with Trappist beer and served with applesauce.

After, wander to De Halve Maan 🌙 (in English, "the Half Moon"), a Belgian brewery founded in 1856. taken in Bruges, Belgium by @atlasette

Rome's Piazza Navona is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon.

Here, you'll find some of the city's most beautiful architecture, three fountains, and plenty of cafés and restaurants where you can sit and watch the city go by.

Far from the precisely manicured gardens of the Palace of Versailles is the Queen's Hamlet, a little storybook village with rambling English gardens.

Here, you’ll find charming thatched-roof cottages scattered around a small lake, along with a rustic mill, dovecote, barn, and flower-filled gardens.

Built for Marie Antoinette as a private retreat from the formality of court life, the hamlet was designed to feel like a simple country village, even though it was very much part of the royal estate. It’s one of the most peaceful and picturesque corners of Versailles, and a lovely place to wander after exploring the more formal palace and gardens. taken in Château de Versailles by @atlasette

Strolling down the Getreidegasse in Salzburg’s Old Town really does feel like stepping into a storybook. The tall, pastel-colored facades, intricate wrought-iron guild signs hanging above the doorways, and little passageways leading to hidden courtyards made it a highlight of my trip to Salzburg.

At Getreidegasse 9, you’ll find one of the street’s most recognizable landmarks, the bright yellow facade of Mozart’s childhood home.

If you find yourself hungry after wandering the Old Town, make your way to Meissl & Schadn at Getreidegasse 50. Save room for the Salzburger Nockerl, a light, cloud-like soufflé shaped into three peaks representing the mountains surrounding Salzburg: Mönchsberg, Kapuzinerberg, and Gaisberg. Served with warm raspberry sauce and a dusting of powdered sugar, it’s a unique (and delish) dessert. taken in Salzburg, Austria by @atlasette

If you’ve been to Paris before, you might remember when people put love locks on the Pont des Arts. The city actually had to remove them because the weight was damaging the bridge, and they put up smooth glass panels so people couldn't hang them anymore. But the tradition didn’t actually die, it just moved over here to a nearby bridge, the Passerelle Debilly.

Because this footbridge still has its original wire mesh railing, it’s become the new go-to spot. The city still comes by with bolt cutters to clear them off every now and then, but people just keep putting them right back up. I didn't add one myself, but walking across it with the Eiffel Tower right there in the background was so beautiful. taken in Paris, France by @atlasette
