7FO (Nanakai Kawata) is a musician/producer based in Osaka. He composes his works using analogue equipment such as synthesisers, guitar, and a drum machine, creating pieces in which different musical elements coexist organically. He has notably created ambient sounds and sound effects for exhibitions, and released recordings on labels such as EM Records (JP) and RVNG Intl. (US). He also pursues live activity around the world, including a performance at the Meakusma Festival (BE) and a Japan-Korea tour with his unit Tapes. In September 2026, he released his new album “Hirota Ishi ga Wawareta” (The Stone I Picked Up Broke) on EM Records.

9th track of “La Société des soupirants de la forêt des huîtres”, a musical project conceived by @gregory.taniguchi.ambos and @yama_yuki_or_odoma in homage to the work of Japanese oyster farmer Shigeatsu Hatakeyama (1943–2025). In dialogue with the exhibition “L’Écologie des relations, La Forêt amante de la mer” at Frac Sud in Marseille, curated by @royer.elodie, a new composition is released each month in the Frac Sud space, following the exhibition’s timeline.

Mineral Delay by 7FO
(Listen at https://mononado.bandcamp.com and via the link in bio)

“ The production took place at the end of winter. A year earlier, I had gotten food poisoning from eating raw oysters and hadn’t touched a single one since. Today, my only connection to oysters is the finely ground shells I spread in my vegetable garden. In this rainy country, the soil tends toward acidity. By mixing oyster shells into it, the pH is restored. This brings minerals and also becomes a habitat for microorganisms. The time the oysters spent in the sea slowly dissolves into the earth, then flows into my body. During the production of the music, I project onto my mind, as if with a projector, the image of oysters living in the sea.

The resolution is low. In any case, even with eyes open underwater, everything is blurry and almost invisible. Do oysters have a field of vision? It seems they perceive light. In the cold sea, they draw in salt water, expel it, and fasten their shells to the rocks. In a world of suspended plankton particles, they beat while optimising their function as a filter. In the layers of minerals accumulated on the seabed, I grasped a fissured and shapeless mass. “

Bio:
Lý Trang is a Vietnamese musician and sound artist, who was born in the Northeastern of Vietnam. She has composed music and soundtrack since 2017 and started working with sound art in 2020. Her music practice explores the space between cultural memory and contemporary auditory experience. Trang creates sounds for her tracks using field recordings, synthesizers, and traditional instruments from different ethnic groups in Vietnam, especially dan tinh from her ethnic group Nung. Her work is full of sound exploration and singularity, rich in textures and progress, which opens a door to the illusion of images and colors, originated from one imaginary visualization that she finds as a cultural substratum.

FeLid :: Magic Hour (ato.archives)
https://igloomag.com/reviews/felid-magic-hour-ato-archives
#igloomag #reviews #RobinBJ

"Magic Hour is both accessible and deeply experimental with its mutant ambient approach. The sonic palette employs clicks and clacks, echoes, mechanical whirs, lost terrestrial train whistles, melodic forms, shattering forms, and human murmurs, sometimes slowing or speeding up local fields to gain an emotional edge." by @ato.archives

RGL :: Untitled (ato.archives)
https://igloomag.com/reviews/rgl-untitled-ato-archives
#igloomag #reviews #RobinBJ

"Untitled brings a form of fantasy music where society or environment is imagined in an advanced technological and scientific age exploring the universe, time, future tech, and humanity. The monstrous and crazy hypnotic repetitive sound is the art of the impossible, famously indistinguishable from magic, a way to test new ideas and take tomorrow." by @ato.archives

We are very happy to welcome Vietnamese sound artist Lý Trang to ato.archives and today we announce the pre-order of her work Microhabitat.
When we first listened to her work, we were immediately intrigued by her experimental compositions, in which many different elements are juxtaposed in such a unique way.
Microhabitat is composed of tracks originally created as soundtracks for films. The sound is complex yet clear, melancholic yet powerful at the same time. Everything seems to go hand in hand, creating a rich and immersive listening experience.
Although the tracks are short, you may be surprised by just how dense they are.
We hope you will check out this great digital release!!!

Composed and all sounds by Lý Trang
Mixed & mastered by Lý Trang
Cover Design and E-booklet design by Yoh Yanatori
