Hey we had a visitor on our deck last night...

... Coincidentally, I've made a new version of Fox(g)love to bring to Birmingham Open Studios....

Come and visit us at venue 84 (Bournville Rest House) this Saturday and Sunday. (There is also a farmer's market on this Saturday for extra tempting shopping).

I set up the majority of my stand today and so many people wandered in because they were excited and pleased to see the door open. It's a well-loved landmark.

Did you know The Rest House was built in the centre of Bournville Village Green in 1913 (opened in 1914) as a gift from global Cadbury employees in gratitude to George and Elizabeth Cadbury's dedication to worker welfare? No, neither did I til now.

Please visit Birmingham Open Studios on this the final weekend and take advantage of this free, family-friendly event.

This is 'Church' a rescue cat whose portrait was requested by Pat for her friend Tom. (She is a wonderful, returning customer in the USA who has bought Tom several cat portraits over the years, as well as other UK based commissions!)

Pat kindly sent over some photos and the report that Tom 'very much loved his gift'.

It's so great hearing how stained glass commissions are received... I feel really involved and very happy to hear the thoughtful gift went down well. Thanks Pat.

I've been doing a flurry of pet portraits for various people recently and many are travelling to America. A small warning to anyone wanting to ship soon: the fees are enormous now. Do check and build extra into your quotes!

Here's my battered open studio guide after two days of visiting studios all across Birmingham!
It's been great to catch up with artist mates, meet new people /learn about other disciplines and actually walk around working studios.

@artmetallix and I made a plan and drove from the jewellery quarter (@craftspace_) to Shirley (@vixbrownglass) and all points in between across the weekend.

I can't mention everyone I spoke to here (bound to forget one so...) but can tell you all venues from a single artist exhibiting in her own home (@black_and_tortie) to large galleries with loads of artists visiting and showing (e.g. @nook_kingsheath and @svnth_crcl ) have been warm and welcoming. Thank you!

There really is something for everyone across the 84 venues.

If you haven't ventured out this weekend do grab a brochure or the app and have a lovely day out next weekend. It's a unique opportunity to visit artists and find out their processes (and maybe get stocked up miles before Christmas).

I'm going to be exhibiting at venue 84, the Rest House, Bournville next weekend alongside several artists working in very different mediums.

Birmingham Open Studios starts this weekend!

I'm grabbing my brochure, checking the app and visiting as many studios as possible this weekend with @artmetallix. (In previous years we've always been studio neighbours for BOS so it'll be great to have a catch up and visit other studios instead)

I AM taking part in Open Studios but only on the second weekend. Come and find me at Bournville Resthouse on the Green, venue 84. Very much looking forward to it.

I delivered a new piece of glass to an existing customer this afternoon.

She told me to check out the top of her stairs ... I did and found her previous purchase beautifully positioned within a small archway. It was such a perfect area to display this curved piece. Rosemary added that it's especially nice as it can be viewed from both sides.

I was really chuffed to see it so at home, adding colour to the heart of this lovely home.

While on a break visiting my friend in Devon a couple of weeks ago we spent a baking hot afternoon in Beer on the coast.
It was so hot that we visited St Michael's Church (a notice invited us in) and discovered some stunning stained glass windows...plus a sweet little lending library. It was a lovely interlude. by @atomicstainedglass

Very happy to say that I'll be one of 161 artists and groups showing their work across 84 venues throughout Birmingham in about 5 weeks time.

There will be an interactive app (available from early September) so you can plan your art trail and find as many of us as you can across the 2 weekends. It's a great opportunity to see art being created, meet the artists and understand their processes.

I will be showing hand painted stained glass on the second weekend only (3rd and 4th October) at The Rest House on the Green Bournville, B30 1JT. (That cute hexagonal building on the green in Bournville village!)

A big thank you to everyone that visited us at the Summer Makers market at the historic Red House Glass Cone, Stourbridge this weekend. It was a lovely event, beautifully organized by Holly & Rick @makers.market.midlands.

So nice to see people who are fast becoming old friends!
