Another phenomenal tour guest. Thank you for choosing ATOP! by @atopmemphis
Have you heard of WLOK? 📻 In 1977, Art Gilliam purchased the station and made history: WLOK became the first Black-owned radio station in Memphis. Nearly 50 years later, it's still locally owned, still on the air, and still serving the community that built it. For generations, WLOK has been more than music. It's been a gathering place for gospel, for news that mattered to Black Memphis, and for voices that weren't being heard anywhere else. That's the kind of legacy you don't just read about. You feel it when you're standing where it happened. Memphis history is living history, and stories like this one are on every corner. Come see them for yourself. Book your tour with ATOP Memphis at the link in our bio, and tag someone who needs to know this story. 👇🏾 #ATOPMemphis #JourneyToATOP #WLOK #MemphisHistory #BlackHistory #BlackOwnedMemphis #MemphisTours by @atopmemphis
They thought they knew Memphis. Then they took this tour. 👀🚶🏾‍♀️ This group toured streets they'd driven past a hundred times, and left seeing them completely differently. The trivia that stopped them in their tracks. The stories that never made it into the history books. The moments that connected them to the people who actually built this city. That's the thing about Memphis, the real black history, in our faces daily. Our tours have been booking out back to back, and spots for the next one are going fast. Comment ATOP to book today! #tourismmemphis #memphistourist #tourmemphis #blackhistorymemphis by @atopmemphis

As we enter early voting week, I wanted to share this important message from Ms. Carolyn Michael-Banks of A Tour of Possibilities ( @atopmemphis ). It’s a reminder of our collective responsibility to learn our history, preserve our history, and exercise our right to vote. Early voting begins this Wednesday, October 14, and runs through October 29. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Our history matters. Our voices matter. And so does our participation in shaping the future. by @atopmemphis
This is why now more than ever, you need to know your history. What are your thoughts about what is happening in the nation right now? #tourismmemphis #memphistourist #tourmemphis #blackhistorymemphis by @atopmemphis
