Occupational therapists play a vital role in helping individuals across the lifespan engage in meaningful activities, achieve independence, and improve their quality of life.
The Department of Occupational Therapy at ATSU established in 1995 as a leading OT program in Arizona, prepares highly competent professionals in the art and science of occupational therapy, with an emphasis on whole person care, client-centered practice, and service to underserved populations.
ATSU-ASHS offers two entry-level degree programs: the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) and the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT). Students have the unique opportunity to apply to transfer from the MSOT program to the OTD program at the end of their first year. ATSU is the only occupational therapy department in Arizona that offers both entry level programs!
ATSU’s OT programs emphasize experiential learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a focus on social determinants of health, ensuring that graduates are prepared to meet the evolving needs of individuals and communities.

Support doesn’t end at graduation! Recent ATSU graduate, Anissa Evans, OTD, OTR/L, ‘26, presented her Capstone project: Expanding the Knowledge of OT’s Role in Pelvic Health Among Referring Physicians within the Veterans Affairs System at the 2026 ArizOTA conference. We had so much fun collaborating with @asdoh2030 yesterday for our Dental IPE! We worked together to set up their sim lab stations for their optimal comfort and to prevent future overuse injuries due to poor ergonomics. We also learned exercises to prevent these injuries and relieve tension. 🦷🪥 taken in Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health by @atsu.ot

Dr. Benjamin Gross is the Co-Director of Clinical Integration and brings years of real-world OT experience into the classroom.

From pediatrics and traumatic brain injuries to home health, his career has taken him across so many areas of OT. He’s also a former AOTA Treasurer!
