Al Qessas - BTS Documentation

Back in 2024, I was chatting with @mahersaeedhamed when he mentioned he was working on @abshawky 's new film. The second I heard the name, I got excited cause I'm a huge fan of his debut feature, Yomeddine (2018) so I asked if I could come document a day on set. On 2/8/2024, I did. It was exactly as I'd imagined.

I got to be a fly on the wall on one of the smoothest sets I've seen. A crew that's genuinely friendly and supportive, talking music and genres with @amirelmasry and suddenly singing happy birthday, spotting a horrifingly realistic fake baby, and watching actors flip into character the second they heard "action." I was ecstatic the whole time.

I waited until the film came out, went to see it, and it was even more genuine than I remembered feeling on set. I understood why Abu Bakr was looking at the monitor so joyously.

Thank you @mahersaeedhamed and @abshawky for having me, until next time ❤️! by @attarantino

Had the opportunity to shoot with one of my all time favorite artists last week in CJC. Thank you @maiiwaleeed for connecting with me and thank you @omarmscjss @a.s.deif @magedfaltas for being great musicians and for taking me in the crew and clicking together from day one 🙏🏼

Also as always much love goes to the one and only @nazlis.noise for being the best energy in the room wherever she goes 🫶

Hazy in camera portraiture with @_dahlianoir_ and @ayaaanagy

These images are lovely unintended mistakes that occurred due to the constant power outages. The power cut off during development and caused haziness in the frames of the film, resulting in this unintentional but surreal effect that i believe should try intentionally next time and see how it goes.

Thank you @thelaboratory.film for the development and your support! by @attarantino
