Extremely proud to announce the graduation of the very first batch of the Leela Sommelier Development Program (LSDP) 🍷

A first of its kind program, LSDP brought together participants from each of our hotels across the country for a 20 week curriculum. We finally gathered the entire batch for a graduation ceremony at The Leela Bhartiya City, Bengaluru.

Our graduates now proudly wear the Leela Sommelier Development Program pin. Look out for it as you dine with us across The Leela Palaces Hotels and Resorts.

LSDP started as an idea I’d carried for a long time and seeing this batch graduate makes it real. This is our commitment to F&B excellence.

What a weekend at @theleelapalacenewdelhi . Bringing together four incredibly talented chefs, great friends and people I have so much respect, admiration and affection for.

Chef @chefmayankistwal7 of @musaafernyc @musaaferhouston , the legendary Chef @vickythechef , our home star Chef @shubham.thakur09 , and my dearest @chefbani who created the famous @miampatisserie. Seeing all four of you together, creating in the kitchen and simply having a great time, was a joy to watch.

And a very special thank you to Chef @sanjeevkapoor for being part of this dinner. Having you with us made the evening even more special.

But what made this weekend truly meaningful was that it was never just about another great dinner. We came together for @share_our_strength_india. using what we love, food, hospitality and bringing people together, to support a cause that matters, ending child hunger and poverty.

Held it for 15 years, opened it in a discerning company, 4 hours of gentle decanting, showed flawlessly, with the wisdom of its age, while still clinging on to its past

Spending time with Chef Massimo Bottura at The Leela Palace New Delhi felt less like hosting one of the world’s greatest chefs and more like welcoming family.

Thank you to @culinarycultureco and @raajsanghvi. Working with you is truly special Grateful for the partnership, the friendship and everything we continue to create together.

There is so much more I could say but honestly, words don’t come close. It will continue to reflect in the way we welcome our guests, the way we look after them and the way we treat every interaction with more heart.

Déjà vu. Chef Massimo Bottura said these words a few years ago, and hearing him say them again today brought back a sense of nostalgia.

Because the truth is, 50% is the chef and 50% is the service. One creates the experience, the other brings it to life.

The enigma of Chef Massimo is something else. What separates good from great isn’t just talent, it’s the journey, the relentless curiosity, the obsession with learning and the passion that stays alive every single second.

Chef Massimo is a legend for a reason.

Greatness is not a moment. It is a mindset, a journey and a passion that never stops.

Library Bar, Leela Delhi

The is the most commercially successful bar in the country, making nunbers that other cocktail bars can’t even imagine. But with the new menu, it’s not just one of the most succesful bars, it’s also one of the absolute best bars in the country.

The cocktails are technical but tasty, crowd pleasing but complex… and they are more balanced than most other leading bars in the country. And I love the theme, how each drink is inspired by a book, and not just in a loose, superficial way.

There is a gin, sake and mezcal drink inspired by Toni Morrison’s Beloved that actually tastes bittersweet and smoky, evoking this feeling of nostalgia and memories. The Raymond Chandler inspired Farewell My Lovely is bold and bitter and earthy, with truffle washed rye whiskey, Fernet Branca, chocolate bitters and sweet vermouth. As an aside, I love this specific truffle wash… it’s not some random truffle oil shit. It’s actually made using Italian black truffles and so the truffle notes are balanced, subtle and earthy, enhancing the drink and not overpowering it.

For me there are two must drinks. Forever and a Day by Anthony Horowitz, a sort of tropical inspired sweeter take on a Gibson with Banana-Infused Gin, Elderflower, Chardonnay, Citrus, Clarifier Rosemary Milk and Curry Leaf Oil. And Carl Sagan’s Cosmos with Dill-Infused Gin, Tequila, Mastiha, Tomato Water, Elderflower and Supasawa, a savoury, briny masterpiece.

I also love how they actually have leather bound, customised copies of the books with the menu inside and an old school library card. This is thought through, detailed and it makes sure that the experience of the space truly matches the concept or idea. Add the fact that it’s open later than any cocktail bar in the country and you can see why this is India’s most succesful cocktail bar. taken in Delhi दिल्ली by @atultiwari
