Thank you so much for supporting our small business as we grow. I am Lisa from AuCourant Home. For those that are new to our community, welcome in. I am an Interior Decorator, originally from New York. In April, 2024 I opened my Vintage & Decor Shop on Instagram and at the Hillsboro Antique Mall. And in August we began accepting shop sales here on Instagram. A little bit more about me, As early as age 8, I remember walking Brimfield Flea Market, collecting dolls and old cookie cutters. Later on, collecting and selling Bakalite. My parents were Antique dealers and I was so very lucky to shop every flea market and antique show on the East Coast as a child. I grew up with beautiful antiques in my home.Fast forward as an Interior Decorator, I have always loved accessorizing and believe that it is important to personalize your home with beautiful things and style. Some of you have asked me what does Au Courant mean and how do you pronounce it? See above, I do tend to add a soft t at the end. 😉Au Courant is a French word that means: Current, In the Know and Up-to-Date. It is Synonymous with the most Fashionable and Stylish. I opened my interior decorating business with this name in 2003. It has always been one of my favorite words and seemed apropos at the time I went out on my own. It is a nod towards my love for all things French. And I still love the word today. It inspires every sourcing decision and is everything I believe a beautiful, personalized home should be. Timeless and Stylish but not trendy. I selected and posted this photo of Claude Monet’s Kitchen in Giverny as an example, for me, of all that is Au Courant. Monet’s House and Gardens @maisonjardinsclaudemonet is a dream, it is so inspiring. The Kitchen has been one of my very favorite spaces from the moment I visited back in the 90’s. Monet designed this Kitchen in 1883 and it is everything beloved today. A Master’s lesson, a love letter in Color Theory and Country French Design. The precursor to so much great design including today’s Cottage Core and Grandmillenial Aesthetic. The Kitchen is enveloped with a wash of color in blue. Classic, blue and white, hand made and hand painted tiles decorate the walls and vibrant, glossy French Blue trim, makes the room pop. I love how you often see the green trim on the outside open windows. Iykyk, this blue and green is my favorite color combination. I love how nature, the view outside, his muse for so much of his art is integral to this space. There is so much more than meets the eye, his selections, the way the light and colors outside may change the space’s mood during different seasons.
