We are pleased to share that our CEO, Mrs Nardos Bekele-Thomas, will speak at the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum, taking place from 2 to 4 October 2026 in Alamein, Egypt.

As a co-organiser of the Forum, AUDA-NEPAD is looking at how policy, investment and partnerships can deliver real projects, stronger institutions and lasting economic progress across the continent.

Mrs Bekele-Thomas will bring the Agency's experience in project preparation and delivery to discussions alongside Heads of State, financiers and business leaders from across the continent.

This UNGA High-Level Week, we will be convening the inaugural Energizing Africa lecture, in partnership with GEN Africa and host partner New York University, bringing young entrepreneurs, innovators, diaspora professionals and policymakers into one room to push the implementation of #Agenda2063 forward.
The programme includes innovation pitches from five NYU-affiliated youth ventures, a high-level panel on youth, human capital and Africa's demographic dividend, and a keynote lecture from our CEO, H.E. Nardos Bekele-Thomas, on the role of youth, public institutions, the private sector and diaspora networks in delivering #TheAfricaWeWant.

Africa’s heritage tells the story of where we come from. Africa’s creativity is shaping where we go next.

Across generations, Africa’s cultural heritage and creativity have shaped identities and influenced the world. Yet questions of restitution, reparative justice and how Africa derives value from its cultural and creative wealth remain unfinished.

During the 81st United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week in New York, we’re convening a high-level dialogue on Advancing Reparative Justice, Cultural Restitution and Africa’s Creative Economy Transformation on 23 September 2026.

The dialogue will spotlight AUDA-NEPAD’s African Art and Artefact Return Initiative (A3RI) and the Africa Creatives, Sports and Recreation Programme (ACSAR), advancing an important question:

How do we turn restitution and reparative justice into pathways for cultural restoration, economic opportunity and transformation?

As we advance the 2026–2036 Decade of Reparations, Restitution and Justice, the ambition is clear: move from recognition to restoration, from dialogue to action, and from Africa’s cultural and creative wealth to shared prosperity.

Today, as we mark #AUDay, we reaffirm a conviction that has anchored this continent's journey for over six decades: that Africa's progress depends on Africa acting together.

At AUDA-NEPAD, we translate the vision of Agenda 2063 into results on the ground, infrastructure that connects markets, skills that prepare young Africans for the economy of tomorrow, and institutions strong enough to deliver at scale. Unity is not an abstraction. It is the practical work of building systems that serve citizens across borders.

Yesterday, Thursday 06 August 2026, the Establishment Agreement for the AUDA-NEPAD Country Office in the Democratic Republic of Congo was signed at the Cité de l'Union Africaine in Kinshasa, under the High Patronage of H.E. Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Republic.

The agreement was signed by our CEO, Mrs @nardos_bthomas, and the Minister of External Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Mrs Judith Suminwa, and members of Government. by @auda_nepad

Achieving sustainable development requires the meaningful participation of women and girls in every sector of society. Their leadership, innovation, and resilience are essential to shaping the Africa we want.

Today we celebrate #PanAfricanWomensDay and honour the women who have shaped and continue to shape our continent's development journey. From the founding of the Pan-African Women's Organisation in 1962 to the women leading industrialisation, agriculture, health and infrastructure programmes across Africa today, their contribution remains central to the vision of #Agenda2063.

As AUDA-NEPAD celebrates 25 years of shaping Africa's development agenda, we are partnering with @unisa_universityofsouthafrica to bring together students, academics, policymakers and development practitioners for a conversation on the future of Agenda 2063.

The session brings together UNISA's ten Catalytic Niche Areas and AUDA-NEPAD's continental mandate, with panel discussions exploring the role of young people as drivers, not merely beneficiaries, of Africa's transformation.

We will unpack Agenda 2063's aspirations and moonshots and engage directly with the audience on how their fields of study connect to the continent's priorities.
