I had so much fun doing this challenge. With a decent camera or a phone, we can romanticize our lives and bring more colors to it.

I’m trying Toni Morrison’s writing routine
Toni Morrison wrote in the « marginal hours. » She was a single mother with a job in publishing and a busy life. She woke up at 5:00 AM, and started working. In this video I show you how I applied her method while traveling and whether or not it worked.
Do you write when you travel? Let me know in the comments.

My new Youtube video is šŸ’Œ out now!! have you seen it yet? šŸ‘€ Check the link in bio

I wrote at length about how Black people in France were on the receiving end of racial domination. But France is not more racist that other countries. Here is why:

A couple of years ago, I wrote an article for @writersofcolour Media Diversified that detailed how racism in France works, how France’s denial of communities who have different racial backgrounds, while applying a violent form of racism was harmful for Black people and how difficult it was for Black French people, who are the biggest group of Black people living in Europe, to remain both over represented and under represented at the same time. The article still remain fatually correct and art the time, was lauded by many Black French people who wrote that they felt seen.
But the problem is that although I never said it explicitly, the article made some Black people, who are not French, felt better about their own situation in their own country. I was hinting at the fact that life as a Black person in France was maybe much harder than in other Western countries, mainly the UK and the US. It was also my vision at the time. And I was dead wrong.

I wrote this article that was published a couple of years ago for Decolonise fest. Here it is, dusted from the archives.
Growing up, I was heavily into rock music. And especially Punk music after stummbling into a copy of the manga Nana by @ai_yazawa . I became so obssessed with it I got my friends to read it too. And then, I began going to punk concerts where people would ask me: ā€Why are you here?ā€.
It felt lonely and shameful until I discovered Afro punk.

I’m pleased to announce that my next workshop, Writing as global citizenship in partnership with Jackson Hole Writers, will take place at 9:00am Mountain time this Saturday, September 5th. The final session will take place on Saturday, September 19th, at the same time.

What will you learn?
This:
Writing is protest. The participants will gain the necessary tools to write and put a light on issues they are working to resolve or dealing with on their professional, personal lives or in the lives of the communities they’ve resolved to help.
They will learn how to use various media and targeting specific audiences.

I’ve delivered workshops in Europe, the Uk, Africa and ow the US. I’m so proud of having taught people over the world the power of writing and storytelling. Where should I take my workshops next? Asias? New Zealand/Australia/ The Pacific?

If you’re interested in my workshops, send me a DM.

August photo dump
It has been one, long, hot summer. And the good news is, summer isn’t over.
I finally saw benito and I had so much fun and felt so alive
And surpringly, as I felt so happy and thankfully to be a living, breathing creature, grief came back to hit me like a sack of rocks.

I decluttered my family’s storage room and this is what I found.

One of the best vegan ice creams I’ve had and 100% vegan, worth the hype @lacremaparis

Another month another workshop! It was boiling hot but it’s great teaching kids how to write about and appreciate their hair

NK Jemisin, that I discovered this summer, is everything she thinks she is and more. She is such a talented and skillful writer and it takes a lot for me to read fantasy.
