Ahhh the Nashville nostalgia 😌

I learnt this dance @nashvilledancefest and I’m so keen to teach it @yeehawandyarns TONIGHT!

This was us dancing it a couple days after learning it and clearly I was still figuring out a few bits 😂

Just your little reminder that we all learn at different paces - some people get a dance straight away, while others take a few more goes (🙋‍♀️ clearly me with this one), and that is TOTALLY okay! Sometimes it just takes a bit of time and practice, but you can still have fun while you’re getting there.

And don’t worry, I know it now haha!

Dance: La Cantera
Choreographers: @algalyfofana, @polfryann, @david.villellas, and @montse.moscardo

A lil’ @nashvilledancefest recap 💃🇺🇸

Two words: pretty cool. I got to do heaps of workshops, pick up new dances and ideas, and learn from choreographers and instructors I’ve looked up to and whose dances I’ve been doing back home. Absolutely stoked to have been there!

But this weekend also made me realise just how much I love two things about line dancing:

1). Watching everyone dance. There were people who made you stop and think, “Wow, you can really dance” 🎶🕺and then there’s the rest of us… sometimes a little awkward, sometimes completely forgetting what step comes next, but still having a great time. You don’t have to be the best dancer in the room, or even feel like a dancer at all. Everyone has their own style and puts their own spin on it. Some people look like they were born to dance, while others are still figuring it out, and that’s completely okay. You don’t have to look like a pro to enjoy yourself!! We’re all just out there finding our groove and having fun. And there’s something pretty special about a room full of people all doing the same dance, but each making it their own.

2). And then there are the people you meet. You can rock up not knowing anyone and somehow end up dancing with a bunch of randoms, having a yarn and making new mates. That’s honestly one of the biggest things I’ve come to love about this community, and I really want more people back home to experience that too 🤍

So excited to bring a little Nashville energy back to the Fleurieu and share what I learnt at NDF with everyone at @yeehawandyarns 🐧

If you’ve ever thought about giving line dancing a go, don’t overthink it, just get out there and give it a go! You don’t have to be perfect to belong. You don’t need to know the steps, you don’t need to know anyone and you definitely don’t need to be a dancer. Just rock up, give it a go, have a yarn, meet some people and most importantly, have fun with it! Whether you’re already hooked or have absolutely no idea what you’re doing, you are absolutely welcome on the floor!!
