This Saturday, #audiowild is having one of the last events ever at this location. Two very talented local bands performing a night of fun & energetic music that you won’t experience like this anywhere else in town. Even if you’ve never attended one of our events before, you’re more than welcome to come join us. All ages, bar w/ ID, no glass, five bux minimum but you can donate more if you wish. No discussion, no explanation given, they just think it’s a good idea to get rid of the only place of its kind in #idyllwild and deal a fatal blow to yet another music venue in Southern California. Even knowing that we just got approval from the state and federal government to be a religious nonprofit. They don’t care. Hope they enjoy this lovely building in a town where they don’t even live. We’re still finishing out the month regardless. Who wants to play the final show ever at #audiowild ❔ taken in Audiowild Studios by @audiowildstudios

We’ve somehow managed to escape certain death multiple times over our five years of persistent existence. Not sure how we’re gonna pull this one off yet. The out-of-town folks who bought our building last year think it’s a good idea to cancel our lease at the end of this month. They’re not asking for more money, they just want us gone. Don’t know how to fight it or if it’s worth fighting. Any advice or encouragement is appreciated. Thanks, music fam. 🙏🎶 taken in Audiowild Studios by @audiowildstudios

Artist Spotlight:

The Zero Collective w/ Nicki Chen

Specializing in experimental/avant guard/cathartic expression; The Zero Collective ( @thezerocollective )is an ever evolving/expanding roster of artists that have collectively been releasing an original composition everyday since November 22nd, 2011.

This iteration will feature the incomparable Nick Chen on Electro-Acoustic Viola to infuse a deep sense of intricate expression & gentle ferocity to this year’s experience amidst the trees of Idyllwild.

The Daily Drops is a series of releases rooted in the conceptualization that “you are what you do, so do what you love”; shifting the focus of the artistic process to that of making it, as opposed to an end product.

Now nearing the middle of the fifteenth year of this artistic cycle: The Zero Collective yearns to expand further into & beyond the current limitations of its grasp; toward an ever evolving palette of experience, expression & expansion.

Hi I’m Nicki ( @viola.wav ),
Music is my homing signal, reaching out to old souls and those ready to look within. This is my way of finding soulmates. I’m a violist that uses improvisation to embrace instability and search for forgotten experiences and hidden energy. I invite the audience to join me in surrendering to the process of peeling back armor to reveal raw emotions without fear of judgment or imperfection.

I’m excited for to see and hear what Jess & Nicki have in store for us at this year’s IEMF!

Artist Spotlight:

John Wiese

John Wiese ( @sad_psychics ) is a Los Angeles based artist and composer whose work has played a significant role in contemporary experimental music for more than two decades. Emerging from the Southern California underground, his practice reflects an anti-institutional and formally open spirit where improvisation and collage become methods for rethinking sound and performance. Through recordings, installations, solo works, and collaborations, Wiese has developed a highly recognizable approach built from electronic textures, compressed sonic intensity, and abrupt structural shifts that challenge distinctions between composition and raw sensory experience. His performances create immersive environments that move between precision and instability, drawing connections between noise, contemporary art, and expanded forms of improvisation.

I’m super excited to see John perform. It’s been many years, and he’s constantly evolving, so I can’t wait to see what he brings to the stage this time.

@sharkiface

Sharkiface is a solo electronic musician and sound artist from Oakland, CA. She uses an interdisciplinary approach to create live textural incantations. Layering live samples, textures, and rhythms, her mostly improvised sets are made with an extremely tactile and rare synthesizer (the Ciat-Lonbarde Tranoe Ambrazier), sampler, and manipulated voice. Sharkiface also plays in the dark wave, synth duo Jeweled Snakes. Since 2000, Sharkiface — a long-time participant in the Bay Area noise scene — has been in projects such as Caroliner, Crack:WAR, Pigs in the Ground, and Tarantism. She also started and co-ran Life Changing Ministry, West Oakland’s noise chapel. “sharkiface’a music is original, dark, hypnotic and uncompromising and beautiful.” RATSKIN Records

A prolific musician, composer, and producer, Gibson has spent more than three decades exploring the outer reaches of ambient, experimental electronic, psychedelia, Americana, dream pop, and avant-garde sound. From his early days with Furry Things and Eight Frozen Modules to projects including [a]pendics.shuffle, Bell Gardens, Toler Gibson, and Almost An Island, his career has been defined by constant reinvention and fearless creativity.

His collaborations have included Brian McBride, Jack Dangers, Douglas McCarthy, Damian Lazarus, and Paul Carman, while his music has appeared in film, television, and commercial campaigns for brands including Samsung, Hyundai, and Infiniti.

Based in Idyllwild and operating his own label, Meadows Heavy Recorders, Gibson continues to create immersive, emotionally resonant music that defies categorization. Whether crafting expansive ambient soundscapes or pushing the boundaries of electronic experimentation, his work remains both deeply personal and endlessly exploratory.

Artist Spotlight:

Laura Shumate

Laura Shumate ( @mslashu ) is a sound artist and electronic musician based out of Los Angeles. In her work Shumate manipulates commonplace sounds and compelling melodies into dissonant forms juxtaposed through sweeping drones and intricate play with tones and textures. Through this approach, Laura underlines a perceptual imbalance within the human condition, leaning into the innate need to find balance, setting and resetting this visceral disproportion through the tactic of synthesis. In her play with sound, the dissonant becomes harmonious, and sonics traditionally perceived as unwelcome become inviting and transcendent. Using modular and traditional synthesizers, samplers and drum machines, the outcome of her realization is one of complete immersion into an ecstatic realm of sound.

Laura is also the host of Indoor Cats, broadcasting online every second Wednesday on @dublab

I’m thrilled to have Laura perform at the 3rd annual IEMF happening at @audiowildstudios on Saturday June 27th.
