“That was the Devil riding your back.”

An elder said it like it was nothing. It took me years to understand what happened to me at 13, and even longer to learn how to make sure it never happens again.

My newest Substack is a testimony and a toolkit: the night I was mounted, and the cleansing and protection rituals that keep me covered now.

Happy October! 🍂

October is Hoodoo Heritage Month, a time to honor the African American spiritual tradition our ancestors carried and kept alive. Hoodoo was born in the American South from the wisdom of enslaved Africans, blended with Indigenous plant knowledge and the realities of survival. It lives in our rootwork, our prayers, our Bible verses, our ancestor veneration, and the remedies passed down at kitchen tables.

This month we honor the elders, the root workers, the grandmothers who knew which herb for which ailment, and everyone who kept this tradition going when it wasn’t safe to. Hoodoo is not a trend. It’s heritage, and it belongs to the descendants who keep it.

Light a candle for your ancestors this month. Speak their names. Thank them for the way they made.

In our newest episode, “When the Saints Get Secular” featuring our special guest Lindsey, creator of @audmagic gets into why queer people gravitate towards astrology and Black queer folks deconstructing from religion in search of more expansive spiritual practice.

Alongside our special guest, Bia and Harry also shared their own spiritual journeys and discussed what reimagining their own journeys as Black queer people continues to look like.

No, you don’t need initiation.

You don’t need a title, a lineage claim, a priesthood, or permission. Your bloodline already gave you what you’re looking for.

Swipe through and tell me: which line hit you the hardest? Drop it in the comments. 👇

I used to think the gifts had a price of admission. That you had to be a Priestess, a Mambo, devoted to a specific Orisha, before Spirit would trust you with sight.

Then my grandmother, a woman I never met in this life, walked into a dream and touched her forehead to mine.

I didn’t know her face. I’d never seen a photo. But my mother knew her the second I described her, “Yup, that was Sae’.”

That night didn’t initiate me into anything. It just showed me what had been mine all along.

You were initiated the moment you were born into your bloodline. It is your birthright.

Reiki & Sound Bath with @audmagic 🧘🏾‍♀️
Preparing for birth wasn’t just about getting the nursery ready, it was about preparing our hearts, our minds, and the energy of the home our daughter would enter. Taking the time to pause, release, and reconnect with one another before labor is something I’ll treasure forever.

This Reiki and sound bath experience reminded us that the greatest preparation isn’t perfection, it is presence. 🤍 Thank you, @_audlindsey_ , for holding such a beautiful space for us. We can’t wait to experience it again… next time as a family of three. ✨

The proof is in my aura.

White, turquoise, blue, violet. This is what showed up in my energetic signature. But it wasn’t always this clear.

I got here through the work. Reiki is how I move my own stuck energy, the grief and tension and old patterns that used to cloud everything. I don’t offer you anything I haven’t lived.

Your energy already knows how to flow. Sometimes it just needs help remembering. Ready to move what’s been stuck? Book your reiki session at Atlanta Curves today!

There’s a quiet kind of full-circle that happens when the work finds you ready.

I’m honored to share that I’m now the reiki practitioner at @atlantacurves. 🤎

If you know my story, you know healing isn’t a side project for me. It’s rooted in where I come from, in the hands and traditions that taught me energy is real and worth tending. Reiki is part of that lineage. It’s gentle, intentional work that helps your body release what it’s been holding and come back to balance. No pressure, no performance. Just rest your nervous system can actually feel.

Atlanta Curves has built something special: a space where curvy women are cared for, seen, and centered. To bring this offering into that room feels exactly right.

So if you’ve been carrying stress in your shoulders, your sleep, your spirit, this is your invitation. Come let me hold space for you.

Booking opens Monday June 1st (link in my bio). I’d love to see you on the table. ✨
