It took me five days to post the last stretch of our Yucatán trip—and I suppose, unconsciously, that meant I was dreading the end of our amazing Mexican vacation.
Traveling to the tiny fishing village of El Cuyo was a last-minute decision. We were looking for an authentic experience and a beach without sargassum, crowds, or tourists, and somehow found the perfect spot.
We drove to Río Lagartos through a storm, then followed a one-way sandy road through the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve, led by a fisherman on a motorbike who made sure we stayed on the right path—and, more importantly, didn’t disturb the pink flamingos and hundreds of other bird species on Las Coloradas pink lakes. We played dominos at breakfast and fussball on the village’s main square at night, and enjoyed the incredible beautiful endless public beach.
It felt like one last little adventure before heading home, and honestly, the perfect way to end our discovery of the Yucatán Peninsula. Already missing it. taken in El Cuyo, Yucatan, Mexico by @audreycfort

Where is my @tales_of_the_cocktail veteran badge?! Day 1 of personal edition 17 is now in the books. So many old and new friends met in 13 hours. Highlights of the day: not pictured (why?), breakfast with @benlongtales for a Patagonian catch up, @seanfrederick delivering another perfect event for Citadelle Gin, Heaven Hill’s Living Legends exhibition/event gathering the industry’s best of the best (hats off to @duffontherocks and her team!), dinner with @saramichellego and Colangelo team (in@a place we won’t name for an experience we won’t forget), topped off with night caps with old friends from Diplomatico/Ron Tepuy at @jewelnola .
