GREED: Introducing NØKKEN.

His power wasn’t brute force, but irresistible sound and illusion.

When close enough,
he sprang forward,
dragging them under water.

Others walked willingly into it,
Enchanted by the sound of his violin, and his beauty.

Nøkken drowned them all the same.

Introducing GREED
A protest disguised as a modern fairytale.

Rooted in Norwegian cultural heritage, folklore & craftmsnship -
GREED confronts the consequences of
HUMAN GREED & OVERCONSUMPTION.

The stories that once warned us to respect nature now feel prophetic:

Forests burn.
Landscapes are stripped bare, collapsing
Waters are poisoned.

Our surroundings are dying.
Life, knowledge, cultural heritage..melting away with it.

GREED is a visual slap in the face —
a direct confrontation with the consequences of our actions, and a desire to return to the origin.

Editorial - Look IV

«The trance»

Look 4 – The Trance

For look IV, I wanted to create a silhouette that felt fluid, ethereal, and quietly seductive.

Inspired by the Nøkken’s hypnotic allure, the dress captures the moment when beauty becomes danger..

..drawing you closer before pulling you beneath the surface.

The body of the dress is crafted from a silk-wool damask woven by Krivi Vev.
Its softly flared construction creates a fluid movement, allowing the garment to drift effortlessly with the body.

The upper body is formed from AUGELID’s signature silk organza textile,
developed by pleating and stitching the fabric into a sculptural three-dimensional grid.

Here, Huldra’s Stolen Tail drapes across the chest, over the shoulders, and down the open back,
where it unfolds into the shape of an exposed ribcage.

Once white, the organza has now turned black..
…stained by oil and transformed by the polluted landscape.

As Nøkken moves, the fluid movement of both the skirt and organza evokes the rhythm of water, completing the illusion of the the trance.

Editorial - Look III

«Huldra’s Tale»

For this look, I drew inspiration from traditional Norwegian womenswear, exploring layered silhouettes, contrasting materials, and the richness of historic craftsmanship.

At its foundation is a classic stakk with a long train, accompanied by an asymmetrical vest and a fully pleated cape, all rooted in traditional Norwegian dress while reinterpreted through AUGELID’s contemporary language.

The centrepiece of the look is what I call Huldra’s Stolen Tail.
The blouse is constructed from AUGELID’s signature silk organza textile, developed by pleating and stitching the fabric into a sculptural three-dimensional grid.

Using this structure, the front is manipulated into an organic form that references Huldra’s stolen tail while simultaneously evoking the exposed anatomy of a ribcage and spine.

Throughout the collection, Huldra’s stolen tail becomes a recurring symbol of humanity’s endless greed and desire to possess what was never ours..

The wool-mohair textile, woven by Krivi Vev, is subtly hand-painted with tannin syrup and iron, following the woven bird motif within the fabric.
The flowing stains suggest oil pollution spreading through the Norwegian landscape.

The weighted train and cape extend this narrative, allowing the darkened pigments to gradually rise through the textiles as Huldra moves..

..as though the burnt, oil-soaked forest is slowly consuming both nature and folklore alike.

Editorial - Look II

«Melting Silver»

For Look 2, I wanted to create a black canvas to illustrate how the AUGELID Sølje - and with it Norwegian silver craftsmanship and cultural heritage - melts away in the heat of a burning forest.

A consequence of humanity’s never ending desire for more.

The coarse black wool, woven by Krivi Vev, creates a stark contrast to both the Sølje and the collection’s creative material, Melting Silver.

The asymmetric bustier is constructed with traditional linen canvas for stability, drawing inspiration from historical garment construction, and is tightened with a traditional bunad chain closure.
The trousers reinterpret the Norwegian stakk through deep pleats at the waist and functional Norwegian hooks.

Melting Silver is inspired by Sámi pewter embroidery and traditional metal craftsmanship.
The pewter thread is shaped by hand and stitched onto the garment in dripping, organic lines, allowing the silver to cascade down the silhouette.

As if the heritage itself is slowly melting away.

Editorial - LOOK I

Nøkken’s Tale

For look I, I wanted to create a contemporary interpretation of the Norwegian menswear Bunad.

I imagine this set representing Nøkken as he appears within my modern folklore landscape:

- shaped by human greed, overconsumption, and environmental destruction.

The suit jacket & knickers both feature a pleated technique developed throughout the sketching process, inspired by lines & shapes found in the norwegian Sølje, as well as pleats & folds found in historic Norwegian dress traditions.

The wool/mohair textile is hand-painted with tannin syrup x iron (Oljesøl), following the bird motif within the fabric structure.

Special thanks to @krivivev for preserving the art of weaving traditional Norwegian textiles.
In a world where so much knowledge is disappearing, safeguarding these craft traditions ensures that generations of textile heritage can continue to live on.
