American vocal group Side Effect was responsible for some amazing funky disco in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. This album featured female lead singer Sylvia St. James, who would record two - nowadays sought after - solo records after leaving this posse. ‘Rainbow visions’ came out on Fantasy Records in 1978 and was co-produced by almighty Wayne Henderson who was very busy producing back then. Try ‘Falling in love again’, ‘Illee illee oh I know’ and ‘Peace of mind’.

Today, hearts are filled with both sadness and gratitude as we mourn the loss of the incredible Jim Gilstrap.
Jim wasn’t just a legendary singer—he was a loyal friend, a gifted musician, and someone who shared a lifelong bond with Augie W. Johnson. Their friendship began back in high school and grew into a lifetime of music, laughter, unforgettable memories, and brotherhood. They shared stages, songs, dreams, and a deep respect for one another that never faded.
When Augie Johnson transitioned to heaven, Jim stood before family and friends at his musical Celebration of Life and spoke so beautifully about the man he had known for so many years. His words brought comfort because they came from someone who had truly walked beside Augie through so much of life’s journey.
For everyone who loved them both, find peace in imagining that beautiful reunion in heaven. We can almost hear the music as Jim and Augie embrace once again, lifting their voices together in perfect harmony before our Heavenly Father. What a choir heaven has gained.
Jim’s legacy will live on through every life he touched, every note he sang, every heart he encouraged, and every memory he helped create. His kindness, talent, and unwavering friendship are gifts that time can never erase. Rest peacefully, Jim and Augie 🎶 Jim Gilstrap by @augiewjohnson

When two legends like Augie Johnson and Jim Gilstrap are asked to come together and lend their voices to Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall album, that speaks volumes about their talent and reputation. Their contributions helped shape the sound of one of the most iconic albums in music history.
