⚡️ SPARTANS, SAVE THE DATE! 💙💛

Luv’s Brownies founder Andrea Lacy is honored to be returning to her dream school, San José State University for the Spartan Speaker Series!

She’ll be joining Leslie Osborne, co-founder of Bay FC, former U.S. Women’s National Team player, entrepreneur, and sports broadcaster, for a conversation about entrepreneurship, breaking barriers, and leadership.

This event is especially meaningful because it takes place during Dyslexia Awareness Month and kicks off the celebration of 30 years of Luv’s Brownies❤️

From an SJSU college student who loved to bake to building a 30-year business around the Original Heart-Shaped Brownie®, Andrea’s journey has been filled with unexpected turns, challenges, and lessons in perseverance.

She’s excited to share her story, celebrate the Spartan community, and hopefully inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to embrace what makes them different and keep going, even when the path isn’t easy.

And, of course, the celebration will include Luv’s award-winning heart-shaped brownies, Celia Cruz quarters, and more 🍫❤️

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, and this year, we’re reflecting on a very special milestone: 30 years of Luv’s Brownies. ❤️

Luv’s has a special connection to San José State University. It’s where our story began—and where the Original Heart-Shaped Brownie® was born.

As a college student at SJSU, Andrea was undiagnosed with dyslexia. What she didn’t know then was that the way her mind worked differently would become part of the story behind a business that has now been baking, shipping, delivering and sharing brownies for 30 years.

We are incredibly grateful for every single customer who has been part of our journey. Every order, event, celebration and word of support has helped shape Luv’s into what it is today.

And our SJSU roots will always be a part of who we are:

Born at San José State.
Baked in San Jose.
Shared with Spartans. 💙💛

Throughout October, we’ll be sharing flashbacks, special memories and notes of gratitude from our 30-year journey.

⚽️❤️ Latino Heritage Match!PayPal Park for Bay FC’s Latino Heritage Match against Orlando Pride was filled with Latino culture, community, fútbol, and celebration! 🇨🇺❤️

We were proud to be there with Luv’s Cuban Café, serving up iced Café Cubano, mocktail mojitos, and our award-winning brownies. ☕️🍹🍫

And when customers paid with cash, we gave out Celia Cruz quarters—a fun way to celebrate an incredible Afro-Latina and cultural icon! 🇨🇺✨

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and shared a little Luv with us!

✨ Motivation Monday ✨

From a college student with a brownie recipe… to nearly 30 years of Luv🤎

Did you know the Original Heart-Shaped Brownie® has a very special connection to San José State University?

Andrea developed the recipe while she was a student at San José State — transposing the ingredients without knowing she had dyslexia.

What seemed like an unexpected mistake became the beginning of something much bigger.

In October 1996, Luv’s Brownies was born.

Just one year later, in December 1997, the San Jose Mercury News featured Andrea and Luv’s Brownies.

Since then, Luv’s has been highlighted two more times by the Mercury News, including a feature earlier this year!

These newspaper clippings are more than memories.

They represent growth, resilience, creativity, and a journey that continues to evolve.

From Luv’s Brownies to Luv’s Cuban Café (serving up Cuban sandwiches, authentic drinks, and our award-winning brownies), the heart of what we do remains the exact same: creating delicious food, bringing people together, and doing it all with Luv❤️

And we’re especially proud of the part of the story that wasn’t known back then: Dyslexia is part of the Luv’s story.

What started with a transposed recipe became a business that has been baking for nearly three decades — and we’re still growing.
