Two-color (and modified in other ways) #greengianthat (free pattern) by JVK Knits, this one in “Vincent’s Gold” on Mountain Mohair by @greenmtnspinnery (held double) with a pop of “Chocolate Cherry” (my memory may be wrong on this) on Finn Bulky grown @frostadfarms and dyed @brine.dyeworks 💛🤎 Very much looking forward to the return of #oslothewonderdog and #babybrotherdublin today. I grabbed this coordinating skein on my way out the door, so let’s hope I like them together in the light of day!!! Playing with color… @mrs.hartmansfarmhousemarket “Robin’s Egg Blue” Leicester Longwool Aran sending tingles of joy with this @ewetopiayarn “Tapestry” dyed on a personal fave, their ever-changing upcycled Deja Vu base. Pattern is improv featuring a rhythmic two-color slipped-stitch pattern @kaceyknits shared a while back. She was designing a shawl with it, so I translated rows to rounds for hats, and off I went. This time I’ve paired it with 2x2 rib, and so far I’m pleased as punch. 🩵 What are you up to this Saturday? Taking good care of yourself, your circles, and our world, I hope. Pretty stitches… @brooklynboyknits designed this handsome De Novo hat, and it made for very good company waiting for a tow truck as the light faded last night. I do appreciate a pattern I can memorize! The yarn is @purlsoho Partridge Superwash in “Cornflower Blue.” It won’t be a hard-wearing hat like those from less processed wool, but I do imagine a young person delighting in its subtle halo. 😇 Wish me luck with the car. She aced a thorough “physical” in June, so this flashing engine light is an unwelcome surprise. Just keep knitting… #knittingtheworldtogether by @auntabwi2

Truth is, my color choices skew a bit “understated” — so I’ve gone back into stash for more zippy, kid-friendly colors. Whaddya think???

You may recall that @5sistersfarm recently shared about @commonmanforukraine and I’ve been on a kid-hat-knitting spree ever since. Anyway, this is the heap so far, and I’ve got another 6 weeks before mailing, so lemme know if you’ve got a fave color, combo or hat pattern I really oughta try.

Rainy day plan ☔️ Finished improv beanie pairing @periwinklesheep and @floraadorafibers — and cast on #denovohat by @brooklynboyknits in @purlsoho “Cornflower Blue” on Partridge. 🩵 With a bit of knitting math, I’ve adapted the 104-stitch original to work over 72 stitches. So satisfying! 😁 Lest you fear I’m not fretting sufficiently about the state of the world, rest assured. The current uptick in hat production is brought to you by what my friend Pat once called “aerobic anxiety.” Whatever else you do this fall, please vote. And pitch in however you can. I’ll be watching my favorite poll supervisors’ dogs for two days so she can concentrate on set-up and smooth operations. Pick your lane. Do your thing. It takes us all pitching in. 🗳️ OK. I never “needed” yarn. I needed to be connected. I give thanks for every rough lambing navigated, sheared fleece scoured, dye recipe documented, spreadsheet fussed over. I know mine is the easy job. Thank you from the depths of my heart. ♥️
