Music has taken award-winning sound artist, DJ, music producer and live performer @auntie._.flo to out-of-the-ordinary and adventurous places: street parties in Cuba, mountain festivals in Nepal, beaches in Goa, rooftops in Kenya, sun rituals in the Arctic Circle, and now a palace in the copper town of Khetri in Rajasthan.

🌱🌱🌱PLANTS CAN DANCE: THE ALBUM 🌱🌱🌱

We are thrilled to announce the release of Plants Can Dance -THE ALBUM, featuring some of the leading practitioners of what perhaps could now be called a new musical genre: plant and mushroom-inspired music. 🌱🌱🌱

It features artists who collaborate with nature in their music in a variety of ways, many of whom will be familiar to you: Modern Biology @modernbiology101 , Jason Singh @jasonsinghthing , Dr Helen Anahita Wilson @helen_anahita_wilson , OMMA @olgamaximova co-founder of @playtronica and @cantouchthis.studio ) Justin Wiggan @glassedtwin with legendary trumpeter Arve Henriksen @arvetrumpet , Lamine @lamine.wav @balam_ok , @bitmarten and yours truly, Brian d’Souza.

As this music sparks many conversations - nature and music connections, more-than-human perspectives and ways of listening as well as some controversy - we’re also publishing a 28-page, 7500 word mini-book which will accompany the album. It features contributions from all artists alongside founder of @instruomodular Jason Lim and Dr Augustine Leudar @augustineleudar

Brian D’Souza’s Plants Can Dance operates like a quiet manifesto disguised as a compilation — a record that treats plant life not as a poetic flourish but as a legitimate generative force. Built around biosonification, the practice of translating electrical activity from plants and ecosystems into musical data, the album gathers a global cast of ambient, jazz‑leaning, and experimental electronic artists and asks them to collaborate with something non‑human. The result is a collection that feels serene, uncanny, and strangely intimate, as if the natural world is nudging the structure rather than simply inspiring it.
Across contributions from Modern Biology & Zekarias Musele Thompson, OMMA, Jason Singh, Helen Anahita Wilson, Justin Wiggan & Arve Henriksen, Lamine, Bit Marten, Balam, and D’Souza himself, the compilation maintains a cohesive mood despite its varied methods. Compiled by Brian d’Souza aka @auntie._.flo - it brings together a growing community of artists who are making music inspired by the natural world - biophillic music.

As part of our Plants Can Dance album campaign, we are delighted to host a residency at the world renowned Kew Gardens over the next two weekends.

We’ve been allowed special access to ‘biosonify’ some of the plants in the famous Temperate House.

Over the past few years we’ve been lucky to tour the world with many Plants Can Dance performances, workshops and installations (see 👉🏾 )… but playing at Kew is really the pinnacle!! 🤯

Join us for the Plants Can Dance album launch party!

We’ll be celebrating the release of the album and ‘zine which features the greatest voices in this burgeoning plant and mushroom music scene 🪴

We’ll also be premiering PCD resident @lamine.wav ‘Living Ecosystem’ installation , a living, breathing giant sonic terrarium… it has to be seen (and heard) to be believed… 🌱🌱🌱

It will then be moved to our 10 day installation at @fringebythesea in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 in the summer

We’ll be joined on DJ support by @marinx611 from @gondwanarecords and there will be live plant music performances by Brian d’Souza (@auntie._.flo ) @pierre.paslier and Lamine. Plus talks from @earthpercent our partner charity and kicking off at 4pm with a biosonification workshop in conjunction with @instruomodular
