Most students study museums. AUR students work inside one.

This summer, three AUR students — studying Film, Business, and Interdisciplinary Studies — are interning behind the scenes of Vanessa Noel: Dream Shoes, an international exhibition at the Casa Museo Boncompagni Ludovisi @casamuseoboncompagniludovisi in the center of Rome. Cataloguing objects most people will never get close to, helping build the exhibition floor by floor, and turning research into something visitors actually stop for.

This is just one of the internships happening right now. Rome is full of museums, embassies, NGOs, design studios, and much more — and AUR has the connections to get students into them, in pretty much every major you can think of.

University is meant for exploration — testing different fields, different career paths, before choosing a direction. At AUR, that exploration comes with real experience already built in by the time you graduate.

A glimpse into the inauguration of “Dream Shoes” on June 5th at the @casamuseoboncompagniludovisi, with presentations by the museum director Maria Giuseppina Di Monte and curator Giulia Innocentini, as well as Vanessa Noel and Luca Lo Sicco from the @noelshoemuseum. Finishing the show with Prof. Gwynne’s lecture “A Sandal Scandal”.

Next Monday, July 6th, at 5pm there will be a special presentation about Chinese shoes. We would love for you all to come!

This past 5th of June, the Dream Shoes exhibition was inaugurated at @casamuseoboncompagniludovisi, in collaboration with @noelshoemuseum and @aurrome

Dream Shoes offers a broad and evocative exploration of the shoe, viewed not merely as a fashion accessory but as a genuine cultural artefact capable of transcending eras, geographies, and languages, embodying identities and creative visions.

It brings together a selection of @vanessanoelstyle's most iconic creations, representing over forty years of her career, with a series of historic shoes from the collection of the Noel Shoe Museum, an institution founded by Noel herself with the aim of preserving, studying, and promoting the historical, artistic, and sociocultural aspects of footwear. The exhibition unfolds as a layered narrative within the beautiful walls of the Boncompagni Ludovisi House Museum, connecting with the objects of its permanent collection and highlighting their features.

As part of the collaboration, a group of AUR students were involved in the organization of the exhibition: Samantha Lerner, Michela Massaroni and Philip Meany as Assistant Curators, and Isabela Alongi as Graphic Designer and Photographer.

From concept to execution, our Fine Arts graduates have pushed their ideas across different media, exploring form, narrative, and personal expression in compelling ways. The result is a body of work that reflects not only technical skill, but clarity of vision and creative confidence.

Meet Hannah, a Fine Arts alumna.

Studying in Rome meant building a creative practice inside one of the world’s most visually rich cities — drawing from classical Italian tradition while developing the freedom to make work that is entirely her own. That foundation extended beyond the studio: from field trips across Europe to studying abroad in Japan, Hannah’s time at AUR became a process of artistic and personal formation shaped by place, culture, and opportunities.
