A change of plans, a change of setting.
When rain moved the Monocle Gala Dinner indoors, our pieces found their place in the grand surroundings of the Ritz ballroom — proof that good design can adapt beautifully.

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Monocle for their 2026 Quality of Life Conference, providing the furniture and décor across four days of events at some of Lisbon’s most iconic venues.

It started with the idea of creating a shoot in Germany.

Then Sandy found this stunning location in Portugal and came to me with: „I have a concept in mind. But for this one, we need to go to Portugal.”

So we went to Portugal.

For this editorial, I gave her complete creative freedom. She is not only part of our planning team, but an artist herself and I wanted her to bring exactly that side of her into this project.

I trusted her with the concept, the creative direction and the freedom to create something entirely her own.

And this is what she created.

Raw textures, sculptural forms and unexpected materials coming together in a tablescape that feels like an art installation.

What I love most about this project is that it doesn’t look like something I would have created myself. And that was exactly the point.

Building a creative team isn’t about having everyone think the same way. It’s about bringing together different perspectives, trusting them and giving great ideas the space to become something real.

Even when that idea means moving the entire shoot from Germany to Portugal.

I am so proud of you! 🫶🏻 @studio___kowalski

So proud of what we created together and incredibly grateful for the amazing team behind it, especially my favorite assistant Sandy, who designed and organized it all!

Bringing a vision like this to life takes so many talented hands, creative minds and an incredible amount of dedication.

Already hoping to be back in Portugal soon! 🤍
