I didn’t really know what to expect when I arrived in Paris

I leave with the memory of all the people who stopped in front of this chair, of those with whom I was able to talk for a few minutes, and of all the encounters made during this Paris Design Week.

Thanks to the visitors, the designers, the friends who came to see me, to those who took the time to exchange.

The project has its origin in a banal domestic gesture, placing your clothes on a chair, a gesture that is repeated without really thinking about it until the use of the object is gradually transformed.

The chair is no longer a seat, it becomes an accumulation support. It is this form of appropriation that interests me, when an object is diverted from its function, it begins to tell something other than what it was designed for.

I therefore chose to materialize this loss of function by reducing the width of the chair to 25 cm, deliberately limiting its seating capacity. The textile occupies the remaining space, as if the daily gesture had gradually taken possession of the object.

The different layers of padded, then compressed textiles give a physical form to this accumulation. The rigid structure meets a flexible and restrained material.

The chair thus becomes a contemporary relic not because it is old, but because it retains the trace of ordinary behavior.

What interests me, finally, is not only what the object is, but what we do with it. It is these appropriations, these diversions and his gestures that give the furniture a memory and allow certain uses to cross time.
