Det handler om mer enn sko 🤎

I dag fortalte NRK historien om oss og utfordringene vi står i.

Ja, tiden er krevende. Men dette handler om noe større enn én bedrift. Det handler om å ta vare på et håndverk, arbeidsplasser og en del av norsk historie. Hos oss blir det fortsatt laget Aurlandsko, vesker og skinnprodukter med stolthet, erfaring og omtanke – her i Aurland. Det er et håndverk som ikke kan erstattes når det først blir borte.

Hver gang noen velger et produkt fra oss, velger de kvalitet som er laget for å vare. Samtidig er de med på å holde norsk håndverk og lokal verdiskaping levende.

Tusen takk til alle som heier på oss, besøker oss, deler historien vår og velger norskproduserte kvalitetsprodukter🤎

Yes, these are difficult times. But this is about something bigger than one company. It’s about preserving a craft, protecting jobs, and safeguarding a part of Norway’s heritage.

A small coin with many stories. 🇳🇴

“A 10 øre coin in your shoes? No, not everyone could have that. Only if you were going steady!”

That’s how one local woman remembers the tradition from Trøndelag when she was young in the 1970s. Over the years, there have been many stories and theories about the 10 øre coin in the Aurland Shoe. What we do know is that this little detail has carried different meanings for different generations of Norwegians.

A practical and decorative detail. A sign of romance. And even stories connecting the coin to resistance during the German occupation of Norway in the Second World War. One tiny coin. Generations of stories.
Today, we are proud to keep the tradition alive — every pair of our Aurland Shoes comes with a Norwegian 10 øre coin.

Welcome back to A Local’s Guide to Flåm & Aurland 📍🏔️

This time, we’re visiting a piece of Aurland history that you can still wear today: @aurlandskoen , home of the original penny loafer 👞✨

The Aurland shoe was born right here in the village.

Shoemaking became an important craft in Aurland, with generations of local shoemakers producing shoes here by the fjord.

And yes, this is the original penny loafer 👞
The classic Aurland shoe became known for its simple slip-on design and the characteristic leather strap across the front, a design that has remained remarkably similar over the years.

Sometimes you don’t need to mess with a classic ✨

There was a time when Aurland was full of shoemakers 🧵
Shoe production provided work for many people in the village, with the knowledge and techniques passed on through generations.

Today, that tradition continues on a much smaller scale.

Today, only four shoemakers remain in production here 👞👐
Each pair is still handmade in Aurland, keeping a craft alive that has been part of this little fjord village for generations.

That’s what makes visiting the factory pretty special.

Leather is cut, shaped and worked through the different stages of production by the shoemakers here at the factory🧵✂️

If you visit, you can get a glimpse of the craftsmanship behind every pair.

The classics are still classics 🤎

While you’ll find different colours, leathers and variations today, the traditional Aurland shoe has kept the simple, timeless expression it has become known for.

Made to be worn, repaired and kept for years.

And the leather doesn’t stop at shoes!

Leather offcuts from production are used to create smaller pieces like belts and bags, making use of material that might otherwise have gone to waste.

You might come for the shoes, but there’s plenty more to discover👜
Today, Aurlands also offers handbags, everyday bags, travel bags, wallets and other leather goods.

Fair warning: browsing can lead to impulse purchases ‼️

Naturell har vært en del av Aurlandskoen siden starten. Den naturlige skinnfargen har blitt en del av skoens historie – varm, enkel og tidløs. I dag finner du Naturell på flere av våre produkter – fra skomodellene Wangen og Buxton, til vesker, belter og annet tilbehør.

Skinnet får utvikle sin egen karakter over tid, og blir vakrere jo mer det brukes.

Laget i Aurland 🇳🇴
Det finnes en verdi i å vite hvor noe er laget – og hvem som har laget det. Hos Aurlands produserer vi sko og skinnprodukter i Aurland, innerst i Sognefjorden. Her møter tradisjonelt håndverk moderne design, og kunnskap føres videre gjennom menneskene som arbeider med faget hver dag.

Å produsere i Norge er ikke alltid den enkleste veien. Men det gir oss muligheten til å være tett på materialene, håndverket og kvaliteten i hvert enkelt produkt.
For oss handler norskprodusert derfor om mer enn et stempel på esken.
Det handler om kunnskap. Stolthet. Mennesker. Og produkter laget for å vare.
