I am both nervous and and excited to post my dancing, I have a lot of hesitation with social media, but I don't think there is a better way to share what needs sharing...I think right now it's mostly for myself, to keep me accountable to my practice.

It has always been a tremendous struggle with music....but with dance....it's easier somehow. I think because it's my own, not passed down from 3 generations before me.

I'm not abandoning music yet, especially as I am really developing my own sound. My hope is that dance will serve to break the ice and the mental blockages. To help me to get out there, make the connections, gain the confidence, gain the skills as far as all the behind the scenes stuff goes.

Whether it's dance, music, or whatever else, I am done hiding. I am done waiting. I am finally coming into my own and discovering what it feels like to move without the weight of shame, fear, and self loathing that I carried for so long. I am putting myself out there and calling on the wisdom of the universe to guide me to where the gifts and medicine I carry are needed most!

I had a really big breakthrough last week, that I NEED to be dancing! Not many people know this about me, but I took 10 years of dance lessons growing up. It's a part of me I lost when I moved to WA and couldnt find a studio I clicked with. Through tumultuous teen years, my identity was so shattered that I lost my connection with this part of myself.

But the dancer is still in me. I performed on stage in front of hundreds of people when I was still in grade school. At 12, I choreographed a dance for a youth group in church. How did I so deeply forget how big a role dance has played in my life?

This video is just practice, but it's a snapshot of where I am now. What is alive for me. Dance is such an exquisite modality to express what words fail to convey.

I think it's incredibly cool how well it works with this song, because the lyrics match up so well to my focus during this practice. Balancing within and without. Seeing how I can feel the differences in the studio as I work to correct my posture and smooth out my movements, relax my face and be completely present.

I didn't realize how much it reads on my face when my mind wanders away, and I am excited to continue this practice, and see how it affects how I move throughout the world both on and off the stage.

Also, I am really hoping to perform on stage, as a dancer! Once I get a little more practice of course. I think it will really be a game changer to help me find my presence and unleash the tension. If 4 year old me could do it, then 26 year old me is going to knock their socks off. Musician friends, let me know if you would like some performance art accompaniment!!

Just a lil fae creature playing with a looper and procrastinating bedtime...again.

These melodies have been coming through for a while and they always feel like they come from another time. When I sing them I feel so connected to my ancestry and to the Earth. This is what my voice is for. I am so grateful to finally be at a point in my skills and my confidence that it is possible to share one of the many melodies that take up 90% of my brain space. Please let me know if you like this kind of thing!

It’s really happening!!! Aurora and I are traveling to Brazil on Thursday where we will visit the Yawanawá and Huni Kuin tribes to learn from their beautiful cultures and immerse ourselves in their medicinal music. This is an absolute dream come true and is the first time Aurora and I have gotten to travel outside of the US together. We are so grateful for this incredible opportunity that was gifted by a dear friend and are so excited to bring the lessons from the jungle back to our community.
