⚡ ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SONIA FLORES (AURUM SON) ⚡

We’re thrilled to welcome Sonia Flores (Aurum Son) to the 2026 Adventurous Electric Guitar Festival.

Houston bassist, vocalist, and composer Sonia Flores creates music that blends free jazz, avant-garde improvisation, composed song, and global folk influences into a sound that is exploratory, personal, and difficult to categorize.

For AEGF, she’ll be joined by Jesse Ward on guitar and Gregory Jr. Brown on drums.

They’ll help close out the festival at Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar alongside Kelly Doyle and Brad Allen Williams.

This Sunday we have another special event - a live music performance by @aurum.son joined by Girasol “Bleu” at 4pm! You don’t want to miss these amazing musicians!

Aurum Son is the moniker for the original music projects led by Houston bassist, vocalist, and composer, Sonia Flores.

Whether in full ensemble or solo act, Sonia Flores is the driving force behind Aurum Son. Aurum Son is a delicate balance of free avant-garde improvisation and original composition. Pulling from folk music from around the globe and avant garde sensibilities, it all comes together in a fantastical aural journey, defying categorization. The themes in which Flores composes are the spirit journey, spiritual alchemy, the vastness of the universe, quantum theories, motherhood, brown/latine experience and above all, love.

I'll be doing a short solo set of improvised stories, and @girasolbleu will have her guitar in tow, performing a handful of songs

September 20th at 4pm

**This series is in conjunction with the sound workshops I'm hosting at @box13artspace
