🚨 FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY | TODAY

Heavy rain, localized flooding and coastal flooding are possible across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee today.

🌧️ 2–4 inches of rain possible, with isolated areas seeing 4–7 inches.

⚠️ A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Horry and Georgetown counties.

🌪️ A low-end tornado threat remains for brief spin-ups.

🌊 King Tides and onshore winds could cause minor coastal flooding and beach erosion.

The heaviest rain is expected this afternoon into tonight. Stay weather-aware and follow the latest First Alert Weather updates.

TYPHOON/HURRICANE NOLO - Typhoon Nolo has become a rare exception to the list of named storms this year as it has traveled across the international date line, changing names from Hurricane to Typhoon. Nolo has also been a named storm since September 13, 24 days ago. Within 24 days, it has traveled over 6,500 miles.

ISAIAS LIKELY TO FORM - We now have a 90% chance of development in the Gulf. This comes as no surprise thanks to the very warm waters of the Gulf and the favorable environment surrounding the invest. An important thing to note is how strong the wind shear is in the northern Gulf, being the main limiting factor to the storms peak strength.

This hurricane season has gone 127 days without a hurricane, being the longest on record. Most models believe this could become the first hurricane of the year, but the Euro isn't quite on board. This invest is poised to become "Isaias" later today or tomorrow.

NOAA Gulfstream will sample the invest later today and Hurricane Hunters are set to enter the environment tomorrow. This system remains a low threat to the Carolinas. The main threat to us will be the moisture we receive as we head into the weekend and the gloomy weather expected for Sunday and Monday.

11:00 AM MONDAY - The National Hurricane Center has started issuing advisories on a developing tropical system likely to become Edouard later today or tonight. Tropical Storm Warnings are now in place for areas near the TX/LA border.
