Oh how I miss the desert 🏜️.

The beautiful footage in this video was shot by my dear friend @nolongerlaisha for a music project that never saw the light of day. The guitar heard is an acoustic demo I wrote a few weeks ago, a rough idea looking for its place in the world.

In 2021 when I was living in Los Angeles a group of friends and I rented an Airbnb out in the middle of the desert in Joshua Tree to get away from the madness of the city. That weekend taught me a lot about myself. I had just finished a stint in rehab in Malibu and to be honest I had let myself go so far down the wrong path for so long that this trip felt like I was seeing the beauty of life for the first time again. The new found appreciation for the mundane along with everything I learned during my time in the facility made me feel as if I was new again. Life pulls us apart and reunites us when least expected. To all my friends I shared this experience with I love you and I hope life is well.

To anyone who is struggling with addiction or has in the past just know that there are brighter days ahead. There is a demon we have to fight everyday, but I can attest, if you make the right decisions and constantly strive to be better life gets a little easier each and every day🖤 taken in Joshua Tree, California by @austincignewby

Happy Fathers Day Dad. I truly wish you were here to see then man I am today. You were unapologetically you until the very end, I always admired that. There’s not a day that goes by that you don’t cross my mind. I know you’re watching over me, until we meet on the other side pops🖤 taken in Tennessee by @austincignewby
