My kryptonite… compression. I’m extremely surprised I got this climb within the session. I had a rough idea of things I wanted to check out this trip and this climb went under my radar. After leaving the first area, some other climbers recommended this climb and so we decided to check it out on our way out of the canyon. It was definitely my favorite climb of the trip! Found a lot of micro beta that suited me very well and made the send possible. So glad to have squeezed this send out to wrap up the trip and can’t wait to get back to Roy!

This is one of the most aesthetic rock climbs I’ve done. Absolutely love how this block looks and the climbing itself was also top notch. Haven’t come across something like this yet and was super excited to check it out. Got this on my first go but now I’m wishing I got to project it more since I enjoyed it so much. I think slopers are starting to win my heart over after this trip.

This climb taught me a lot over the process of sending it. Was my longest project to date with a total of 5 sessions. At the beginning of this previous season I tried pulling on it and could barely do a couple single moves. I came back to it at the end of the season and was able to do the boulder very consistently to the 3rd left hand bump. I got to that move at least 4 times over the last 3 sessions and it all came down to my mental game. I was physically capable but was too caught up in my head to execute. On the 5th session after falling on the 3rd left hand bump 4 times I just let go of all the pressure I was putting on myself and told myself “this boulder means nothing” and I sent it with ease. I haven’t had to work on my mental game all that much when it came to climbing but this was a turning point and I learned so much about myself. Thank you, to this meaningless rock.

What a well rounded climb. Lots of great crimps, fun movement, and a little spice factor for getting over the lip. Finally got this one on recording after doing it awhile back. First climb for the summer and feels so great to be back! Got a bit tripped up at the top since I haven’t really put too much work into this climb so took me a hot second to get over the lip but was greeted with a refreshing gust of wind at the top. Excited to keep coming back to this line to work on the lower start!

Ate my Wheaties! What a great crimp test piece for the grade. Some people take V8 for it but this definitely deserves V9 in my opinion. Modern day system board climbing definitely came through when on this bloc. Amazing moves and body positions! Got a bit tripped up once I passed the crux and was definitely struggling with the feet but thankfully I managed. Hard to rehearse the top, if you’re into that, since you can’t really establish without doing the hard intro moves. Wasn’t expecting to get this one and was a very sloppy send but I guess I’ll have to redeem myself one day on the extension, Crown of Aragon!

What a very pleasant surprise! Didn’t go into this tour with the mindset of getting frogger as it was somewhat low on my todo list but very happy about pulling on it! Got this rig in two goes which is even more of a surprise because I tend to struggle on hard crimps. This board style problem was lots of fun and had an awesome crew to support! Great start to a beautiful day in Hueco!

Such a fun one! Very burley and powerful for the beginning and then some fun crimping for a semi heady top out. This problem was a big mental win more than anything. I had fallen from the top crimps four times and although I had my beta on lock, and I knew all the moves so well I still had a mental barrier when I would reach the top. It’s interesting how easy moves and good crimps can feel so much harder when there is that mental aspect involved. I learned a lot on this climb and glad I could send.

This line was so fun and the movement was some of my favorite! I felt it fit me very well in all aspects which was satisfying. Super excited to have hit this milestone within my first year and it really gets me excited for what is to come in the following years. I’ve learned so much in my first year and looking at all the progress I’ve made mentally and physically with the sport really makes me grateful to have found climbing!

Pretty much a one move wonder climb but still fun to get on if you don’t know what else to do. It’s one big move into the final half of baby martini. Was really satisfying hitting the slap and bicycling to match. A fun side mission in the Martini Cave.

This was my 9 months into climbing send. I highly recommend the barefoot beta for the climb. Makes it much more fun in my opinion and seems easier compared to climbing it with shoes. The cave crawling was the cherry on top for sure. Overall a super fun and unique climb!

I have truly found something special at Hueco. Having been climbing for less than a year there is still so much for me to learn and Hueco Tanks has helped me significantly progress and find a deeper passion for climbing. Every time I go I find myself experiencing something completely new and fascinating. As soon as I leave the park I already am thinking of when I’ll be coming back. Thank you Hueco.
