If you’ve ever been unsure what goes in the green composting cart, you’re not alone.

A lot of people find it confusing at first.

Let us make it easier! by @austinrecycles

Don’t put Styrofoam in that blue cart. Let The Goopifier 3000™ get it recycled properly at the Recycle & Reuse Drop-Off Center.

Yesterday, we had an amazing tour of @circularservicesedu with our friends at @KeepAustinBeautiful. ♻️🤝

Fun fact: Everything you put in your blue recycling cart ends up here, where it’s sorted, recycled, and sent to be transformed into something new. Here’s what our pals @circularservicesedu had to say...

- Batteries are the most dangerous thing you can put in your recycling cart. Please, don’t do it!
- Plastic bags are the top contaminants causing jams in sorting machines

Remember, bring your plastic bags and batteries to the Recycle & Reuse Drop-Off Center. Our team will ensure they’re recycled properly! by @austinrecycles

Go vote! When the day is done and the polls are closed, remember that election signs don’t go in your blue recycling cart! 🙅 Instead, drop them off outside our Recycle and Reuse Center at 2514 Business Center Drive for recycling. There will be a temporary drop-off station open Nov. 4-18. (No appointment needed to drop off signs at this station.)

You can also schedule an appointment year-round to drop off yard signs at our center. by @austinrecycles

Happy Halloween! By about this time, Jack is looking rough! Remember that pumpkins (carved or not) can be composted in your green cart, so toss them in and give them a second life as nutrient-rich compost. The planet will thank you. 🎃

Also consider donating your un-carved, non-inked/non-painted pumpkins. Donated pumpkins are excellent feed and a wonderful treat to the animals on the farms and sanctuaries. by @austinrecycles

Starting October 1, it will cost $9.80 per cubic yard to drop off yard trimmings and brush at Austin Water ’s Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant. You can drop off up to six cubic yards each day. Everything dropped off is composted and turned into Dillo Dirt — a great way to give your large yard waste a second life! Learn more at austintexas.gov/brushdropoff.

Don’t forget, our residential customers can use on-demand brush collection to schedule up to 3 pickups every year at no additional cost. by @austinrecycles
